Five on Friday

This week has been rough! All weekend I felt like Kyla wasn't feeling well, but she kept saying she was ok. I could tell in her voice that something was wrong. She woke up Monday morning with a terrible cough and fever. I debated all day about taking her in to the doctor and finally about 3:15 I called and they told me to bring her in. They almost didn't do the rapid strep test because she said her throat didn't hurt very much, but I insisted they do it anyway. Strep throat is going around her school like crazy. Sure enough, it came back positive. #mamaknowsbest! We got her some antibiotics, but she still had to miss school on Tuesday as well. She's feeling much better now!

I've been dealing with more insurance headaches, not getting a lot of sleep and overall just feeling very blah. I've really wanted to blog, but I just couldn't find the energy.

I've always enjoyed reading Five on Friday posts and I figured it would be a fun, easy way to get back on track. I love seeing what everyone is loving, whether it's food, mommy products, TV shows. So here are five (random) things I've been loving this week.

1. My Plum Paper planner - I've been using an Erin Condren life planner since 2011, but this year I decided to switch it up. I needed a little more structure in my days and I love how I have these different sections, but still a place for a weekly and daily to-do list.

2. Zone cleaning - I was in desperate need of a new cleaning routine and this has changed my life. Ok, that might be a little dramatic because it is cleaning we're talking about here. But I really like this setup. I do one zone each week and then obviously keep up with the daily things (dishes, laundry, picking up, etc.). I think just having a plan is really helpful. All these cleaning tasks can get overwhelming and I felt like some of them were just never getting done because other things would take precendent. I force myself to just focus on the one zone each week and not allow myself to get distracted by other things. I am really loving this new routine.

3. ThinkRolls iPad app - Kase's therapists recently told us about this app and said he enjoys it when he gets iPad time during therapy. It was $3.99, which I don't usually pay for apps, but they had really good things to say about it. The goal is to solve puzzles and get the little round guy through the end of the maze. It's fun and interactive, but takes logic and problem solving skills. It really is worth the money in my opinion.

Sometimes Kase will get stuck and ask for help, but for the most part he does really well. It helps teach sequencing of events. You may have to "eat" the cracker before you can move the boulder over to then knock down a wall, and move the ice cube over to put out the fire so your little guy doesn't burn up.  Kyla has been loving it too. It really is awesome!

4. Cuties - Why did it take me so long to try these? Why didn't anyone tell me how good they were? They. Are. Amazing.

5. My new "reduce" water bottle (basically a Yeti knockoff) - My mom and I saw these at Costco last weekend. They were $19.99 for a two pack and I've heard these specific Costco ones were really nice. I have been loving it all week. I love drinking with a straw. Even when I have a can of soda, I put a straw in it. #doesthatmakemeadiva? #iswearimnot. Anyway, I also love ice cold water (except when I have a migraine - then it HAS to be room temperature). I've heard all the hype about your water staying ice cold all day and I'm here to tell you, it's true. Love this thing!

This was fun. I can see myself doing this Five on Friday thing regularly. So tell me, what have you been loving this week?

  1. I've been LOVING your planner every time you share it. I would totally get one, but the spiral looks thick like the EC ones. Is it? I had to stop using mine because it was making my purse too heavy!
I think I might need to get that app for Mason! It looks so great!
Also, I LOVE straws in EVERYTHING. So if you're a diva, I'm a diva, and we can use straws together! LOL.
