Mother's Day 2016

As all weekends seem to do, this one went way too fast!  It was a three day weekend for us since Tyler took Friday off and now it's back to reality.  Back to school for Kyla, back to therapy for Kase and back to Mommy Tot School for Kenley!

We didn't do anything too exciting, but I did want to share a couple things.  On Friday afternoon I took Kyla and Kenley to get their hair cut.  Kyla got three inches cut off (she needed it!) and Kenley just got a little trim since she had some crazy looking tails on each side.

Kase didn't get a haircut, but on Friday's he has speech therapy at the clinic (separate from all the in-home therapy he does) so he doesn't get a nap on Fridays.  The boy needs his naps!  We will be able to hopefully change the speech time in a few weeks.  But when he's tired, he insists on snuggling with me so I'll take it :)

Friday night I needed to get a few things at Target so I decided to make a pit stop for a pedicure.  I texted Tyler halfway through and told him I would be needing to do that every two weeks this summer.  Although I know that won't happen, I do need to do it more often (because I do it about once every 2-3 years, haha).  It was amazing!

Saturday we had my niece's 8th birthday party.  They had a bounce house and the kids LOVED it.  Kyla's in there somewhere...

This is how Kenley plays peek-a-boo :)
Yesterday I decided to head out in the morning and do a little shopping.  Tyler bought me a few clothing items for Mother's Day and there were a couple other things I wanted.  We used to play sand volleyball every summer, but took the last couple years off.  We decided to play this summer (thanks to my mom and a good friend who I feel completely comfortable with watching the kids) and it starts this week.  So anyway, I needed a couple things to wear to play volleyball!  I also got some new washi from Michael's (oops!), some new casual shoes, and a few new makeup items from Target.  It was just really nice to shop by myself.  It doesn't happen very often!

The rest of the day we just did some work around the house.  My mom, step dad and grandma stopped over for a quick visit, which was really nice!  They had just met my aunt for lunch and she had given them a few things for me.  First, she made me this sign for my bathroom...

Isn't it so cute?  I just love stuff like this and I think it's a fun thing to see every morning when I walk into my bathroom.  Can't wait to get it hung up!

Then she surprised me with what is probably the nicest, most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me.  Long story short, I have been having a rough six months/year.  She got a hold of some of my family and friends and had them write little notes to me to open up at a later date.  Little words of encouragement.  She also included a bunch of inspirational quotes because she knows how much I love them.

I don't even know who all these notes are from.  She wrote on each one.  Some are for when I'm having a hard day.  Some are "just because".  Some are for when I'm having a really good day.  One is for Kyla's first day of Kindergarten.  One is for a cold Winter day.  I mean look at all these cards!

Of course I had to open one up today.

I can't even put into words how much this means to me.  I have a tendency to get really stressed out with everything going on in our lives right now.  A recent autism diagnosis followed by all of the logistics of getting Kase the help he needs plus all of the therapy.  Sometimes I let myself get overwhelmed.  I worry too much about the future.  I'm trying to learn to take things one day at a time.  The fact that these people care enough to participate in something like this is just incredible.  If you're reading this and you have a note in this pile, thank you.  I cannot wait to read every single one!

Overall, Mother's Day 2016 was pretty awesome!  I got all kinds of goodies from Kyla to hang in my hallway.  I'm so thankful that I am lucky enough to be a mom to my three happy, healthy kids.

  1. I am so with you on the pedicures!! I got one a couple of weeks ago now, and I want another one. But in reality it will probably be another year before it happens again! Haha
The notes...seriously amazing! How incredibly thoughtful and each and everyone will definitely help you out when/if you are having a rough day.
