House Hunting

Happy Friday!  Did this week go incredibly slow or is it just me?  Considering it's been a week and a half since my last post, I figured today I'd just share what we've been up to.

House hunting.  We have seen four houses so far, with another showing on Sunday.  The first one was nice on the inside (actually I LOVED the inside), a nice exposed and finished basement, but there was basically no yard.  And there was a popular walking trail right in the backyard.  Playing outside or just relaxing on the deck while people are walking by and having their dogs bark at us?  No thanks.

The second house was our favorite so far.  It is out in the country a bit, but still in a cul-da-sac with other houses.  It has over an acre of beautiful and quiet yard.  The first level was great, with everything we want.  But the basement stinks and would need a lot of work.

The third house was ok, but way overpriced for all of the little things that we didn't like.  I thought it would be the most quiet and private, but it was closer to the road than I thought and the traffic was really loud.

The last one was perfect in the inside.  Beautiful kitchen with an open floor plan.  Basement was finished and very nice.  But the yard stinks.  It is less yard than we have now and has a very small deck.  We like to have family over to cook out and obviously want a yard for the kids to play.  Plus this one was very close to a four lane highway and was very noisy.  We could even hear the traffic inside the house.

So we're seeing another one on Sunday, but I think house #2 is still going to be on top.  Our house just officially went on the market on Wednesday so cross your fingers that we start getting people coming to see it soon!

I'm trying to keep the house clean and tidy just in case our realtor calls and says someone will be here in an hour.  He did say that usually people give more notice, but it could happen.  Let's just say trying to keep a house clean with two toddlers is enough to make me crazy.

In other news, we found out that we're having a nephew!  Tyler's brother and his wife are due in August and found out on Wednesday that it's a boy.  We're very excited, but I think Kyla's excitement is at a whole different level.  They came over Wednesday and spent the night.  She wanted to see the baby so bad.  She sang him Jesus Loves Me and the ABC's.  She rubbed Aunt Jackie's belly and asked if the baby was nice, if he was sleeping, if he was hungry.  She is obsessed.  It's going to be a long four months I think :)

I still need to do Kase's 18 month post.  Now that he is 3 days shy of 19 months.  Oops.  He had his checkup and is doing awesome, but I still want to get all that on the blog, along with some pictures.  He is such a funny boy.

We have still been doing the letter C with Kyla, but with all the house stuff going on, it's going a little long.

We've learned that Kase loves to color.  Surprisingly he hasn't eaten any crayons yet!

We celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday!

That's all for now - back to pick up the same things I picked up 30 minutes ago, haha!  Have a great weekend everyone!

I Confess...

...I could not stop laughing during the After the Final Rose episode of The Bachelor the other night.  The most awkward live TV show I have ever seen.  Tyler was so annoyed at how funny I thought it was.  It was such a train wreck, I have always disliked Juan Pablo, and I enjoyed Chris Harrison having to be in crisis mode and having no idea what to say.  Funny stuff.

...I am excited to list our house, but nervous that it will sell and we'll have nowhere to go.

...Our 50 degree day on Monday was such a tease.  It's snowing now today.

...My mom and I shopped at Costco for the first time last weekend.

...I'm excited for baseball season.  Go Brewers!

...I wanted to go to the Big Ten tournament SOOOO bad this weekend.  My mom even said she'd babysit.  But my husband put a damper on that plan.  Seems a little backwards, doesn't it?  Shouldn't he be the excited one to go watch basketball all weekend in Indy?

...The insane tantrums Kyla has been throwing are exhausting.  She didn't nap on the weekend.  Monday Tyler came home sick from work and she wouldn't nap because he was in our bed and that's where she usually naps.  Tuesday we had the inspector here all morning and then my mom and step dad here in the afternoon so I could go to the dentist so no naps.  Today, I am forcing her to get back to napping.  By 6:00 every night, she is a nightmare.

...I wish I could win a gift card to Old Navy or Gap.  I want some new spring/summer clothes, but don't want to spend money.

...I'd also really like some new running shoes.  Mine have holes in them.

...I'm not the best hair braider (is that a word?), but I love trying new things with Kyla's hair.

...I might have to bribe her with some Sheriff Callie on TV to get her to agree ;)

Catch Up Picture Dump

I've been trying to go through the over thousand pictures on my phone.  Mostly pictures I've taken, but also a bunch that Kyla has taken.  It is in serious need of cleaning up so I can get some storage space back!

I saw a couple pictures that I took during my blog break so I wanted to get them on here.  So please excuse today's picture dump.  Just a bunch of random stuff!

Beautiful girl snuggling after bath time

Cool chick!

Enjoying a kid-free date to a Badger volleyball game

Just had to document those beautiful curls just in case they go away soon!

He loves to wear his shades!

Rooting on our Packers!  I love Kase's little smirk :)

Kyla's first (and only) hair cut.  She was fine with getting her hair cut, but she hated the cape.  She got two inches cut off and needs another cut soon!

Helping Daddy shovel!
Hope you all had a great weekend!  Tyler is home sick today with a stomach bug.  He never comes home sick from work so I know he must really not feel well.  Crossing my fingers the rest of us don't get it.

Happy Monday!

"Best Day Ever!"

The other night I was putting Kyla to bed and I asked her what we should do the next day.  I asked, "Should we do school?"  She replied, "Yep, it will be best day ever!"  And since then, at random times throughout the day, she will say "Mama, it's best day ever!"  I love that staying home all day because it's freezing outside and winter will never end is the best.  I can't wait to go to the park, for walks, to the zoo.  I have a feeling she will be rethinking these "best day ever" moments.

So anyway, I decided I need to start documenting these funny things she says.  Here is just a couple days worth of Kyla quotes.

I asked her to come in her bedroom to get dressed.  She didn't come so I asked again.  She yells "Mom, be patient!"

While riding in the van - "Mom, the sun is following me.  That's not nice."

After hearing Kase get up from his nap - "Don't worry Kase, sister is coming to save you!"

"Mama, you're my best friend.  Kase is Daddy's best friend."

After getting a huge spoon out to share ice cream with Daddy and me telling her she should probably get a smaller one, she spills ice cream on the floor - "I better get a smaller spoon.  You were right Mommy."

She has started asking me to rub her back when I put her to bed.  Now she says "Rub my back.  And my head.  And my belly.  And my cheeks.  And my legs."

My step dad was here putting some shelves in our basement bathroom.  She really wanted to go down and help him, but he was using the saw so I wouldn't let her.  She said "Kyla's super strong, I help Grandpa" (she recently started talking in 3rd person).

I think I might need to start a "Kyla Says" weekly post.  I love this age (minus the overly dramatic and sassy moments).  She really is the biggest sweetheart, the best daughter, and the best sister.

Here she is working on some letter C school work.  "Take my picture and show Daddy!"

Preschool with Kyla - Letter B

We've spent about three weeks on the letter B.  We just haven't had time for "school" every day with so much going on.  I've been busy getting our house ready to sell!  But here are a few things we've been doing!

Kyla is doing great with all of this stuff.  She loves school and she always says she has to do her homework, haha.  She could already recognize all the letters, but she now knows the sounds that A and B make and some words that start with them.  She can draw the letter A about 90% of the time.  The other 10% look more like an H.  She can't always get the top to connect to make the A.

She loves to update our calendar board.

She insists that the pink goes with the pink, green goes with green, blue goes with blue.  We're working on what these words mean :)
She did some work in her Daily Learning Notebook.

She loves to color the girl in.  Do you see the eyes, mouth and hair, haha?

Writing Wednesday!

The thought is to do one number each week (or with each letter).  This week I let her put two stickers on for the number two page.  She wanted to do all the numbers then.  She loves stickers!  Didn't she do an awesome job tracing?

Here are some of her letter B work boxes.

Tracing pages

She asked for help with the lowercase a.  She kept getting frustrated and erasing it with a kleenex.

And then she turned the page over and made a K.  "Mama, I made a K for Kyla!"

Do A Dot page with magnets - I got the do a dot markers out a different day, but she was not interested in them.

Butterfly coloring page
I had markers in her drawer, but she insisted on crayons.
She always likes me to color with her and I admit, I love to color!
Some other things we've been working on...

The numbers are much easier for Kyla, but she likes practicing the letters with my help.
We got these Alphabet Stamps so I pulled the B out this week.  This was a huge hit.  The stamps are a little small so her fingers were all red from the stamp pad, but she loved it.

I planned on using these letter pages for a gluing activity (like the apple jacks), but I knew she'd love this.

She wanted another page so she did the lowercase too.

They have lowercase stamps like this too that I may need to order.

And of course some ABC Mouse!
Got our B on our tree, Kyla's favorite part!
I get all my printables from Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler.  We're on to the letter C!

Mrs. Mommy's Reality Round Up

You know you're a reality TV junkie when...

You devote time and a whole blog post to your favorite (yet ridiculous) shows.  And hope that some of your blog friends will comment so you're not the only crazy person who DVR's all these shows.

Let's talk about my favorites in order of when they come on during the week.  Oh, and can I just say that this past week has been an amazing TV week?  Now that the Olympics are over, so many good ones starting up again.  After the kids go to bed, I lay in bed and watch like two hours (at least) of this crap.

Anyway, let's get started!

I love the Amazing Race and always dream of Tyler and I doing it.  I love when they do All-Stars.  Rachel and Brenden are back from Big Brother and as much as I cannot stand Rachel and her annoying laugh, I am kind of rooting for them.  Other than that, I don't really have favorites.  I think I might like everyone actually.  Usually there's at least one couple that I can't stand, but none of these couples really bugged me in their original season.  I haven't watched tonight's episode yet so I don't know who got eliminated so no spoiler comments please :)

Yes, this family is annoying, but I just can't stop watching.  I feel really bad for Khloe and all the crap she has/is going through.  She seems like the most normal one.  Kim and Kanye are just ridiculous.  I do get a kick out of Kourtney and Scott.  I can't stand Kris.  I love seeing the Jenner's on the show.  They seem like they bring a little bit more "real" to the show.  No matter how much I want to stop watching, I just can't.

Confession - I watch Sister Wives.  I have no idea why, but again, I can't stop watching.  It just intrigues me for some reason.  I love that they are brave enough to share their story (I'm sure the money the show brings helps).  But I can't imagine the backlash they receive.  Obviously I don't understand or necessarily agree with that lifestyle, but who am I to judge?  They seem like very nice people and I enjoy watching.

Oh, Juan Pablo.  I was not happy when they announced you'd be the next Bachelor.  I thought maybe I wouldn't watch.  Hahaha.  RIGHHHHHHT.  At the beginning of the season, people loved you.  I have never really liked you.  Oops, just realized I'm writing this TO you and not TO my readers.  Anyway, Mr. Juan Pablo, I do not believe anything you say.  You are NOT in this for love.  I'm not sure what it is you're looking to get out of this, but I'm on to you.  I won't post spoilers on here (I read Reality Steve's website), but I just can't wait for this season to be over and to move on to the Bachelorette!  Although, I do look forward to Monday and seeing some of the girls call you, I mean JP, out on his act.

I enjoy the Voice, but I have to admit, I really only love the blind auditions.  I usually stop watching after that and then tune in to the finale.

The farther down I get on this post, the more embarrassed I get, haha.  Anyway, another guilty pleasure is all the Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant shows.  Not sure what it is, but I watch it all.  My favorite from Teen Mom 2 is Kailyn.  I love her and Javi together.  She just seems very mature.  She works, she goes to school, and is a good mom.  What are the chances Jenelle is actually getting her life together?  Chelsea...she seems very spoiled and has some growing up to do too.  Leah...I like her for the most part.  She's got a lot on her plate with a husband that is gone all week.  I think she's doing a good job as a mom.

I love the new judges on American Idol.  Last year was a complete train wreck.  I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Harry, but I love him.  I love all three.  I can't decide who my favorite singer is.  To be honest, I don't really love anyone.  I think I tune in for the judges more than the singers this year.

The Real World changed it up this season by bringing in all of the exes.  Not much to say about it other than it's the usual hot mess that I can't get enough of.

I am officially addicted to House Hunters and pretty much anything else on HGTV.  Tyler gets annoyed with these shows and says they make him realize how hard buying and selling a house really is.  I just love getting ideas.  I like Property Brothers and Love It or List It, but I usually only watch a little bit at the beginning and then end.  I hate all the fake fighting and drama in the middle.  I like to see the before and after and that's about it.  House Hunters...I love to see all 3 of their options and try to guess which one they'll pick.  I'm almost always wrong.

This is the first season I've watched Couple's Therapy and it started one Thursday night when I couldn't sleep and there was nothing else on.  I would be ok with not watching this one.  It's really bad.  But I DVR it for those times when there's nothing else on, the kids are sleeping, and Tyler's downstairs working another 2 hours after working all day, coming home to help take care of the kids and then has to work some more.  Oh man, that just made me feel really guilty.  He's working his butt off and I am laying in bed watching Farrah try to figure out why nobody will date her.  Maybe I should get a new hobby.

I can't be the only one who watches these ridiculous shows though if they're still on the air.  What are your guilty pleasures?  I also watch normal shows like Grey's Anatomy and Law & Order SVU, but they're not as much fun to blog about :)

Now I'm off to watch the Oscars even though I've never seen any of the movies.  I just like the "show".

Hope you all had a great weekend!
