Disney On Ice

Last Saturday I took Kyla and her cousins, Emma and Gianna, to Disney on Ice.  We went to one down by Chicago so my aunt Sharon could meet us and go along.  We had a blast!

The girls got just a little spoiled.  That's what Auntie's are for :)

If you've ever thought about going, I highly recommend it.  It was a great show and the girls loved it.  Mickey and Minnie came out on the ice a couple minutes into the show.  Aunt Sharon had bought Kyla a huge light up Mickey spinner thing so Kyla was standing up, holding it out, screaming "Mickey, LOOK.  Look Mickey!"  And then at one point Mickey fell down (on purpose) and Kyla yelled "Mick, you ok?"  She loved it and is still talking about it a week later!  We need to go back next year and take Daddy and Kase!

Getting Fit

I've made the decision to get into shape.  I'd love to lose 5-10 pounds, but I'm mostly concerned about just being healthier.  I've made a couple good changes so far.

1.  More water!  One of my friends sister has a fitness page on Facebook and she is so inspiring.  She went out and bought a gallon jug to keep track of how much water she drinks every day.  I loved that idea.  I need something like this to help me not only keep track, but motivate me.  I make it my goal every day to finish that entire thing.  Before this, I bet I drank like 3 glasses of water a day.  It's something I've always been bad about.  I'm still not quite finishing the gallon jug every day, but definitely doing it in two days.  The main thing is that it makes me conscious of it.  There's just something really gratifying about getting this big ole' thing out and filling my cup.  Plus it's ice cold.  Mmm, never loved water more!

2.  Focus T25.  Granted, this is the first week, but I am loving it.  I have tried workout videos in the past and could just never stick with them.  I love doing boot camp classes at gyms and I did plan on starting that up again.  However, we are trying to save as much as possible for a new house so I don't feel right about spending money each month working out.  Especially since we have a treadmill and everything else you need for a home gym (bench, weights, dumbbells, the whole works).

This 25 minute a day workout is perfect.  Anything longer and I'd probably give up on it, like the previous ones.  Even though it's only 25 minutes, it's an intense workout.  The first day I did it, I did it with the kids playing.  I needed a little break and Kyla said "Do it Mommy, do it!"  Just the motivation I needed :)

I've really been wanting this, but it's expensive.  Lucky for me, my brother bought it and isn't using it.  Hopefully he never decides to :)

I am also doing these two challenges since they are quick things to do each day.

Like I said, I'm only on day two, but I feel great.  Well, other than being extremely sore and it taking a few minutes to get down on the floor to change Kase's diapers.  And the fact that my hip and pelvic bones are screaming at me because they haven't had any intense workout since expanding for an eight pound baby.  Wow, my body was not quite ready for this.  But I will push on because it feels amazing.

Obviously the working out has helped increased the water intake a ton.  I am loving this new, healthier lifestyle.  I don't necessarily have much weight to lose, but I am in some serious need of toning up.  The third part of this is eating healthy.  Meal planning helps with this, but the thing that really got me to eat better is to start working out.  It just makes you want to eat better.  I don't know if I'll ever be the perfect healthy eater, but I think I'm doing great.  I'm back on track and it feels amazing!

I keep going back and forth on whether to make my blog private.  I hear stories all the time about weirdos stealing pictures and using them for lord knows what.  I also hear that on Facebook and everything else.  And I feel like no matter how "private" you are with your pictures, if someone really wants them, there is a way to get them.  So the only real private thing to do is never post online.  But what fun is that, right?

Facebook has been driving me crazy lately.  So much that I actually deactivated my account.  But then I realized I needed it for my Thirty-One business so I had to reactivate.  I didn't miss it at all though.  I'm not sure exactly what it is, but people just annoy me.  I'll leave it at that.  So I decided to just not post much on there, but keep it for business purposes.  I'd rather post on my blog where some day my kids can read it and have a huge scrapbook (since I am horrible about creating "actual" scrapbooks).  People can still comment, but nothing like the annoying crap on Facebook.  Oops, forgot, I was done with that.  Anyway...

There are just certain people that I don't care to know everything about our lives.  It's weird to say that when I have a blog and the whole world can read.  But most of my Facebook friends don't know this blog exists and even if they did before, they have stopped reading since I stopped posting.  So do I make it private so I can decide who reads it?

But I love meeting new bloggers.  It's one of my favorite things about blogging and that won't happen if I go private.  I mean new people could request to read my blog, but I won't know anything about them and if I just say yes, what's the point of really keeping it private?

So what are your thoughts on this?  I'm thinking I will just keep it the way it is and if my real life friends stumble upon it, so be it (Don't worry friends that already read it, it's just a generalization, not specific to anyone).  I like to post my real thoughts without worrying about who's reading and if I'll offend anyone.  I guess this goes along with one of my resolutions for 2014 - Stop worrying about what other people think.  I have always lived my life wondering and caring what other people think.  The only people that matter will love me no matter what I say/do.  So that is how I've decided to live my life.  Being me.  Being happy.

And now I lied because I just posted to Facebook.  I had to share that Kyla now has an imaginary friend named Quincy.  He goes everywhere with us.  Tonight I shut the van door before he got out and Kyla said I was in big trouble.  Seriously love this age :)

We're back baby!

Friday was my last day of teaching.  It was bittersweet, but mostly sweet.  It's amazing the stress I now feel lifted off my shoulders.  I will miss the kiddos and they were so sad to see me leave, but I know I am making the right decision.

We started Mrs. Mommy school yesterday.  Kyla seriously ate it up.  All day she kept saying "Mama, I wanna do school!"  I will post more about what we're up to later, but here are a few things she did today.

Kase wasn't as excited.  I really just tried to sit down with him and work on new words.  He'd rather climb on the table, shoot baskets, and try to grab whatever Kyla is working on.  But we've had two awesome days at home.

I went out and got a new laptop tonight so I will be back to regular blog posts finally.  I can't wait to get back at it and back to reading my favorite blogs.  I've missed you all!

I saw this quote this morning.  It is perfect and a great reminder of why I've made this decision.

One more week!

One week left of teaching!  Although the last 5 months seem like a blur, I kind of forget what it's like to be home all day, every day.  But I'm excited!  Here are just a few things I'm looking forward to (in no particular order):

1.  Not hearing that dreaded alarm clock go off at 5:00 every morning.  Waiting for Kyla to come crawl in bed with me and say, "Wake up, Mama!" will be a much better start to my days.

2.  Not driving two hours a day!  Tyler and I were just talking the other day about how many miles we have on our vehicles.  He bought his truck in January 2010.  I bought my van in May 2012.  Both were basically brand new and I have caught up to him in miles.  That's crazy.  Putting over 100 miles every day on will do that I guess.

3.  The obvious...spending every minute with my kids and raising them.  I will never get these years back.  Only seeing them for 3 hours every night, which includes having to make dinner, eat dinner, clean up dinner, and give baths, just isn't what our family wants.

4.  Starting "Pre-School" with Kyla.  The girl is already really smart, but the best part is she loves to learn (and spend time with Mommy of course).  She knows all the colors, shapes, numbers and can recognize every letter.  I have many fun things planned.  I have it planned out as a letter of the week theme, but we will do a lot more too.  Since she can recognize them, we will start working on the sounds each letter makes.  Much more on this later.  But don't worry, I'm not a slave driver.  I know what my daughter enjoys and she is going to absolutely love this stuff!

5.  Starting Tot School with Kase.  I feel so bad for Kase.  I feel like he has gotten the shaft.  He is behind on his talking so we will be working a lot on new words, animal noises, etc.  I just feel bad that I haven't spent time with him on all of these important things.  I mean we do when we're just playing, but I did so much more with Kyla.  I'm excited to give him new "toys" that will help him develop all of his skills.  Most importantly, I'm just excited to spend more time with him!

6.  Meal planning.  I have attempted meal planning, but with such busy schedules, it's been difficult.  So I'm looking forward to planning things out, which in turn, saves us money (and makes us eat better).  I make a plan for the week, know exactly what I need when I go to the store rather than buying a bunch of random crap.

7.  Saving money.  It seems strange that I won't working anymore, but we might actually save more money each month.  To be completely honest, by the time we paid daycare, I had to spend a lot of the rest of my income on gas.  Sad, huh?  We are looking to sell our house and buy a bigger one so I am really going to focus on how our family can save more.

8.  Putting less of a burden on Tyler.  He has been 100% supportive of my decision to go back to teaching.  Since I had to leave so early in the morning, him and the kids were still sleeping.  So he had to get them up, fed, dressed and off to daycare, which made him get to work later each day.  Then when I had to work late or had meetings, conferences, whatever, he had to leave work early.  He did not mind doing it at all, but he has a busy job and works extremely hard.  He stays up way past the rest of us putting in another 2-3 hours of work.  The guy is incredible.  So I am happy that I can lessen his load.

9.  Get into shape.  Enough said.  No more excuses!

10.  Maybe, MAYBE, we can think about baby #3.  Maybe.

Be Back Soon!

Wow, has it ever been a long time!  My last post was showing off my new classroom and talking about preparing for the first day of school!  I apologize to anyone out there that liked reading my blog.  I just have not had any time to keep up with it.  I have barely been scraping by with teaching, my Thirty-One business, keeping up with house work, and oh yeah, this family of mine.

The last 4 1/2 months having been the hardest of my life.  And while I am passionate about my teaching career, I have resigned from my 3rd grade teaching job and my last day will be next Friday, the 24th.  There are several factors that went into this decision.  But in the end, my family needs me at home.  I can't wait to be home again.  I will miss teaching (well, certain parts about it), but I know I can teach in a few years when the kids are in school.  I can never get these days back with them and I have been living every single day being rushed and stressed.  It just isn't worth it.  I don't want to live my life that way.

So, Mrs. Mommy is back!  Well, I will be back.  I know once I am home again I will start blogging because I have really missed it.  Plus I don't do a great job of doing "baby books" so I really want to document our lives for our kids.

I feel like I have so much to write about.  This past weekend we celebrated Kyla's 3rd birthday!  I will share about that, along with pictures, in a later post.  I can't wait to be back!  I've missed all my blogger friends too :)
