May is for Mom's - Part Two

Today is part two of the May is for Mom's link-up and I will be sharing an interview with my mom!  If you missed the interview with myself, you can find that here.

My wonderful mom was kind enough to answer some questions for me.  It was fun reading her answers.  Thanks, Mom!

1.  How did you feel the moment you found out you were pregnant with me?
I was actually scared when I found out I was pregnant with you. Your brother Mark was still a baby (9 months old) and Matt was 3 years old. I was so young and thought how am I going to take care of 3 young kids with my parents living in Arizona? But I had a lot of help from your grandma Eunice and aunts (Sharon and Linda).

2.  Was I a wonderful surprise or carefully planned?
You were a huge surprise! Birth control apparently didn't work, lol.  Ended up being a wonderful surprise since you were a girl. I didn't know ahead of time that you were a girl, but I bought a lot of girl clothes before you were born because I was determined you were going to be a girl!

3.  What was the most challenging time in my childhood?  Why?
Making sure you got enough love from me since I was working 2-3 jobs to make sure you and your brothers had what was needed in life. You seriously were the best daughter a mom could ask for. You never talked back to me. If you got mad at me you would just pout. I remember saying to your grandma Barb when you were 16 "Amy still hasn't sassed or talked back to me and that it is too good to be true".

4.  Did you worry more about me as a child or now that I am an adult?
I guess I would have to say as a child. Growing up with divorced parents is so hard for young kids. Your Aunt Sharon and Uncle Mike were such a huge part of your life that I really can't begin to thank them enough for all their help. They helped me shape you into such a wonderful person that I knew you would be the best mother to my grandchildren. And a mother never stops worrying about their children but now that you are an adult it's just maybe a little less. (Maybe)

5.  What is one thing that you thought was deeply important when I was a baby that you now realize did not matter at all?
I can't really think of anything, but I do remember comparing you to your brothers or other kids.  I think all parents do it, but each kid really does everything at their own pace and at different times.  I realize all of that now, but at the time I would worry about certain things.

I love this picture of Kyla and my mom.  She coaches Varsity softball so we went to her game last week and Kyla got to go see her in the dugout!

I hope you all had an awesome Mother's Day!  I love that I am able to call myself a mom.  It is by far the best job I've ever had.  And I sure am lucky to have two amazing kids.  As you can tell, I have a pretty amazing mom too and I am the person I am today because of her.

The last interview will be with my kids, which Tyler will be answering what he thinks they would say.  That should be fun :)

  2. This was a great interview, Amy! Your mom is so sweet, and when I was reading the part about you being such a great daughter, I was thinking I sure hope I get that lucky to be saying to my mom someday that my girls still haven't sassed.
