Super Bowl Giveaway

Sorry I haven't blogged since Monday.  Our internet really sucks, which is extremely frustrating!  It works ok during the day (usually), but the only time I can sit down and blog is at night when the kids are in bed.  Guess when the internet NEVER works?  Yes, at night when I actually want to accomplish something.

But I wanted to tell you about a giveaway quick...

If you are not part of my Thirty-One Facebook group yet, go HERE and request to join.  I am doing a fun little giveaway for the Super Bowl.  Since the Packers aren't playing, I needed something to make it more exciting.

All you have to do is leave a comment (on my Facebook group) with who you think will win and the total score at the end of the game (both team scores combined).  For example, if you think the Ravens will win 21-10, you just comment with Ravens, 31.

The winner wins this Picnic Thermal Tote ($35 value).  Perfect for tailgating!  It is tall enough for wine bottles ladies :)

Go on over and make your guess!  Oh, and I'm also having an online auction tonight on the same page.  My husband commented the other day that my Thirty-One "stash" is getting out of control.  So I am selling a bunch of it really cheap!

Ok, computer time is over for Mama!  I'm crossing my fingers that the internet will work long enough for me to write a real post tonight.  While I was writing this, I looked over and saw Kyla in Kase's swing.  Backwards.  Silly girl!

Tot School - B is for Butterfly, Bee & Bears

Tot School
I wasn't able to do some of the things I had planned because our printer isn't working.  So we ended up doing a lot of painting projects, which was perfectly fine with Kyla.  She absolutely loves to paint!  Here are some of the fun things we did for "B" week!

We started with our easel again.

Her new favorite thing is to have me draw circles and she will color them in.  We do this all the time now.  As soon as she gets them colored in, she asks me to draw more.  She actually does a pretty good job of getting them colored in.

I couldn't print our do-a-dot page so I made my own.

We made a butterfly out of a coffee filter.  She painted it with water colors and then we put a pipe cleaner for the antenna.

We did a footprint bee.

Like I said, we did a lot of painting all week.

We enjoyed bear pancakes (more than once).
Sorted blue and yellow counting bears.  She did well with the first couple of yellow ones and then insisted they ALL go in the yellow cup.

We made bubbles in the sink and I let her play around for awhile and make a big mess.

She likes an alphabet app on my phone.  When she clicks on a letter, it plays a little song and has an animal or object that starts with that letter.

She also played with her ABC Elmo app on the iPad a little bit.  She loves it and tries so hard to trace the B, but I always help her so she can get to the fun stuff.

Here are our B books from the library.

Her favorite was by far the boats.

I get a lot of my ideas from Diapers to Diplomas.  She has so many great ideas for letters and themes!  If you missed our A week, you can see it here.

Here is her picture that will go in her alphabet album.

We left the balloons from her birthday party around for awhile so she had a blast with them.

I have a feeling C will carry over for two weeks too.  I don't have our library books or have much planned yet.  But we're loving these fun little projects we've been doing and I like taking our time.

My Little Assistant

Kyla loves pens.  She's obsessed actually.  I was doing some Thirty-One work the other day at the table and she was begging to use my pen.  So I finally gave in and let her scribble on my planner.  She thought this was the best thing ever.  She would scribble, turn the page, scribble some more, turn the page.  And every couple minutes, she'd look at me like "I can't believe you're letting me do this, mom!"

Some fights are just not worth fighting.  And I was able to get my work done and she was happy.  So have at it, girl!

This is the same girl that refuses to even look my way when I'm taking her picture.

"You're the best mom ever!"

Done with our work and now being silly while Mama cooks dinner.
 Have a great weekend, everyone!

Kase - 5 Months

Dear Kase,

I feel like I just wrote your 4 month post.  So much has happened in this last month.  We celebrated our first Christmas with you.  Mom and Dad went to the Rose Bowl and you stayed with Grandma and Grandpa (and you were awesome, not there was any doubt).  Your big sister turned 2 and we had a party for her.

This month you also started really sitting in your bumbo and playing in your jumperoo.  We had to put a pillow under Kyla's feet when she was this age.  No pillows for you, big boy!  You can jump away on your own.

You have been a little fussier this month.  I think it's a combination of teething and just being sick of laying around.  You want to move!  You still have not rolled over.  I seriously think you might skip rolling over altogether and just start crawling.  When you're on your belly, you are trying so hard to get up on your knees and crawl.

For the most part though, you are still your happy self.  You love your big sister and she is loving the fact that you can sit up in your bumbo now.  She is constantly getting in your face and giving you hugs and kisses.  She also tries to lift you up out of it because she wants you in the jumperoo instead.  She stands right next to you and talks to you and plays with your toys.  You two already have such an awesome relationship.  I know you will be best friends and that makes me so happy.

I can't wait to see what you're up to at 6 months.  But I am not ready to move to 18 month clothing yet so maybe you could stay in 12 months for a little bit and help your Mama out?  Thanks!

I love you so much!

Love, Mommy

For over a week you were sleeping in until 8:00 and since Kyla sleeps until at least 8:00, Mama was spoiled!  This past week it's been back to 6:30.  You take a decent nap in the morning, usually around 9:30.  I really try to get you and your sister down for your afternoon naps at the same time so I can rest and get some things done.  Lately that's been around 1:00.  You wake up sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 and stay up (at least I try to get you to stay up) until bedtime.  Kyla goes down at 8:00 and we have been giving you your bath, feeding you and putting you down after that.  You're usually sleeping by 8:30-8:45.  I know this is probably why you're getting up earlier since it used to be more like 9:30.  But it's nice to get you both in bed at a decent time.

You are eating 5-6 ounces of formula every 3 hours during the day.  We haven't started giving you cereal or anything yet, but I think I'm going to buy some rice cereal next time I'm at Target.  I'm not in a hurry to feed you food, but we are going to start putting you in the high chair while we eat so you can start watching us and learning how it all works.  We all know you're not starving, Mr. 100% man!

~Laughing and squealing at just about anything, but especially when I kiss your neck
~Watching your crazy sister play
~You're still loving your baths.
~You still need help sitting up, but you're doing so well with it!
~No teeth yet, but I think they're coming soon!
~You do not like these monthly tie stickers and try to rip them off and eat them as soon as I put them on.
~You are outgrowing your car seat quickly.  And it takes all I have to lug you around in it.
~You take your nuk out of your mouth and then play with it and attempt getting it back into your mouth.
~You have very strong legs and can put all your weight on them.
~You get a hold of Mama's neck fat and don't like to let go.
~You talk up a storm, especially right when you wake up in the morning.

Happy 5 months, my sweet little Kase man!

My New Job

You can now call me a SAHM and part-time working mom!

As much as I love being home, I am always telling Tyler that I need to get away for a couple hours.  Usually it leads to me going to Target and spending way too much time (and money).  He encourages me to get out of the house and do something for me.  But that would consist of shopping or eating out or other things that cost money and make me fat.

So I happened to see that a local gym was looking for part time help and I could basically choose my hours.  I'm not doing it for the money (which is good because the pay is pretty crappy).  I'm doing it because I need a mental break from being a mom 24/7.

I trained three nights last week and started my normal schedule this week.  I will just be working 2 1/2 hours every Monday night and 5 hours every other Friday (and closing the gym down).  Working the past two Mondays just for those 2 1/2 hours has been awesome.  It is exactly what I needed.  It really does rejuvenate me and make me a better mom and wife.

The actual job?  I'm just working the front desk, but it's a big gym and very busy.  There's no sitting and I'm always really busy, which I love.  I don't have time to sit around and think about missing the kids.  It is the perfect mental break.

Since I'm working nights, Tyler will be home with the kids so we don't have to pay for care.  I am so grateful that he supports me in this.  I really do love it and he can tell it makes me happy.  But it does require him to handle dinner and putting the kids to bed once or twice a week.

One of the biggest perks is that I get a free membership and they have a daycare that I can use for free.  Once it warms up (it's in the single digits for highs this week!), I plan on going to workout twice a week in the morning and have the kids go to the daycare for about an hour.  They have tons of classes so I'm excited to try them out.  This alone is so worth it!  It will help our days go faster and these long, winter days a little easier.  I hope Kyla does ok in the daycare.  I will post how that goes later.  I'm hoping to go later this week or for sure next week.

Breakfast Bake Deliciousness

If you remember back to my Christmas posts, I tried a new breakfast bake Christmas morning.  It was a big hit with Tyler so we decided to make it a tradition.  Well, apparently he liked it so much that he asked me to make it every Sunday so he could eat it during the week for breakfast, haha.  Yesterday morning when I saw this note on the fridge when I got up, I thought I better share the recipe.

In case you can't read his messy writing - "That was/is your best egg bake EVER. Wow. DELICIOUS!  Thanks, Dad

I got the recipe from one of my favorite recipe blogs Life as a Lofthouse and just changed it up a little.

1 8oz package of crescent dinner rolls
1 8 oz package of pre-cooked sausage links
6 eggs, beaten (original recipe calls for 4, but I think 6 is perfect)
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon oregano
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
(original recipe calls for 2 tablespoons of chopped green pepper - Tyler said he couldn't taste the difference when I added them, so I saved myself some time and avoided them the last couple of times)
1.  Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. In a 9x13 baking dish, spread the crescent rolls and press dough into the bottom and up the sides a little bit.
3. Slice the sausage links into small pieces and spread onto the dough.
3. Mix eggs, milk, salt, pepper and oregano (green pepper if you want) in a bowl.
4. Pour the mixture over the sausage.
5. Sprinkle the cheese over the top.
6. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown (this last time I did exactly 20 and it was perfect - I mean did you see that note? ;)

It's so easy and Tyler said it's just as good leftover than it is when we ate it right away.  Now I feel like I might need a new Christmas morning recipe since this one will probably be so old by then.  I'm just happy he likes it though.  And by the way, I love it too.  I can only eat so much though.  And Kyla eats it once in awhile too, but she prefers her Cheerios :)

Kyla's Official Birthday Post

Dear Kyla,

I still cannot believe you are two!  I am so used to using months to describe your age and I don't have to do that anymore.  These last two years have gone so fast!  I think part of that is because we added your baby brother to our family during that time.  But regardless, they have by far been the best two years of my life.

Thank you for bringing so much love and laughter into my life.  You are so silly and we are always laughing together.  You have quite the personality.  Some people think you will be an actress with all of your facial expressions and how you can bring the drama just like that!

You go through stages where you prefer me over Daddy, but for the most part, you are so happy with attention from either one of us.  You love Daddy giving you baths because he lets you have extra time to play and he lets you splash.  Isn't he the best?

I can't wait to see how much you grow and learn in the next year.  It's amazing to look back at you when you turned one.  You are definitely growing into a beautiful little girl.  I could go on and on about how much I love you, but I also tell you this about 45 times a day.  I can't wait for the day that you say "love you" back to me.  Thank you for being so awesome.  Thank you for still wanting to snuggle with me.  Thank you for being YOU!

I love you with all my heart sweet girl!

Love, Mommy
