Kyla - 22 months

Dear Kyla,

You are 22 months already!  The next time I write a post like this you will be TWO YEARS OLD!

This past month has been one of your fussier months.  I think it's a combination of being frustrated that you can't tell us what you want and being a little spoiled.  Yes, I will admit it, you are spoiled.  Not in a spoiled rotten way.  You are just so used to getting all of my attention every day so when I'm busy doing something else, you are not happy.  You have mastered the fake cry perfectly.  It's actually very funny.  You make this funny face that shows off all your pretty teeth.  It looks a little bit like this...

Daddy and I try not to laugh because you really don't like that...

But it's hard.  You're just so funny!

You are getting sillier by the day.  You love to throw yourself around on the floor and laugh.  You love to hide behind the couch and jump out and say "BOO!"  You love to make Daddy and I laugh and you know exactly how to do it.  If we're not paying attention, you will get right in our face and make sure we watch.

You (for the most part) are a very good listener.  You haven't had many timeouts lately.  When I ask you to put something back or to pick something up, you listen.

You have become a VERY picky eater.  I hope it's just a little phase you're going through.  Once you actually try things, you love them.  It's just been a struggle to get you to try things.

You started swim lesson this month and I'm so happy you love it.  We are also going to start going to toddler time more so you can run around and play.  You have unlimited energy so the play time in the gym is right up your alley.

You are nowhere close to being ready for potty training.  You like to sit on your little potty while supervising me in the bathroom, but hate when I put you on it with no diaper.  I'm not worried about it right now though.

You are a  Mommy's girl, which I have to admit, I love.  But it can be exhausting at times too.  You follow me around all day.  You're my helper too.  You will throw diapers away for me, get me a burp cloth or blanket when I need it.  You will give Kase his nuk when he cries.  You love to help me in the kitchen.

And even though I said it was exhausting, I wouldn't have it any other way.  You're my best friend and we have a blast together.  I pray that we will always be close and you will always do silly photo shoots with me :)

I could go on and on about all the things you've been up to.  It's so much fun watching you grow and learn new things every day.  You know your colors (red, blue, green, yellow, orange and purple), all your body parts and we're working on shapes.  You pretty much know every object in your two big first words books.

STATS:
Weight:  Around 30 pounds
Height: You were 32.3 inches at 18 months and we don't take you back to the doctor until 24 months so I'm not sure how tall you are.
Teeth:  All but your 2-year molars
Diaper:  Size 5
Clothes: Mostly 2T, but your leggings are 3T and your swim suit for lessons is 3T.
Shoe:  About to switch from 5 to 6
Hair: Red with light streaks and the underneath layer is much lighter
Eyes: blue

Daddy almost always gives you baths, brushes your teeth and puts you to bed.  Before he reads to you, you come out for Mama kisses.  I always get at least 3 kisses and then as Daddy carries you to your bedroom, I say "Guess what? LOVE YOU!"  And you laugh the cutest laugh I've ever heard.  And Daddy always says "Chicken Butt" after I say guess what.  I seriously can't get enough of you!  You make me smile and laugh so much!

I love you so much sweet girl.  I call you my Kyla girl and Kase is my Kase man.  I love all the hugs and kisses I get.  You are starting to really warm up to other people and even Uncle Tanner got a hug last night when he came to visit.  I think it helped that he played football with you.  You love to play ball!  I can't wait to see all the new things you're doing when I post again in two months.

I love you so much Kyla Pearl!

Love, Mama

  6. I had a parent tell me today that her son (who is the same age as Kyla) has become much more picky these days too, and she said that her doctor told her they're at the age where they don't need quite as much food, so they realize they can be picky and not eat EVERYTHING in front of them, and still be full :) I thought that was interesting! lol.
