Kyla - 21 months

 Dear Kyla,

I know I said I was only going to do these updates every other month, but I just had to jot a few things down.  I want you to be able to read this little "baby book" when you have a daughter of your own so you can see what you can expect.  Good and bad.  And trust me, we have had good and bad this month.

Where shall we begin?  You are hilarious.  You make your dad and I laugh every day.  You are making the funniest faces lately.  You also have mastered the dirty look when you are mad at us.  Never in a million years did I think I'd already be getting these looks from you.  When you're 16?  Sure.  But when you're not even two?  Yikes!  You're quite the little character.  You love to laugh.  And laugh.  And laugh some more.  Your smile melts my heart.

You've become a picky eater lately.  Actually you've always been cautious about trying new things, but it's even worse now.  You now smell everything before you will try it.  We sometimes touch the food on your lips so you can get a little taste.  You then decide it's pretty darn good and will eat it.  Grandpa Todd brought you M&M's and you were scared to try them.  But when you finally snuck one in your mouth without me looking, of course you wanted to eat the whole bag.  And you were still scared of suckers until about a week ago.  You licked it for about an hour and then we had to take it away and you were not happy.  Daddy was the bad guy on that one.  You tried to dig it out of the garbage.

You are starting to throw tantrums.  As in throw yourself around.  Throw your arms at me.  Yell.  Scream.  More dirty looks.  Yes, you have it all.

This is the day that you wanted NOTHING to do with Tot School.  Normally you love it.  Don't worry, you will laugh at this picture some day.
You are basically done with your nuks.  You had two that both had holes in them so I got rid of them and gave you two new ones.  You wanted the holey ones back.  You liked sticking your finger in there.  I was afraid you were going to bite the rubber off and swallow it.  Now when we give you one, you look at it with a disgusted face and throw it.  We still put them in bed with you, but when I peek on you before I go to bed, they are on the floor.  This weekend we're going to get rid of them completely and see what happens.  I really don't think you're going to care.

Along with disliking your nuks, you also dislike pillows and blankets.  Even when we're snuggling on the couch and I try to cover our legs with a blanket, you rip it off.  When I lay you down on your pillow in your crib, you move your head off of it right away.  It, along with your blanket quickly make their way to the floor.

You still are showing no signs of being ready for potty training.  When I ask you if you pooped, you will run into your bedroom and lay down for a diaper change.  But there's no way you're ready to start going on the potty.  You like to sit on the baby potty with your pants on.  Naked butt though?  Freak out city!  That's ok.  We'll wait until you're ready.

Although you can be naughty and Mommy has to put you in timeout sometimes, you are such an amazing little girl.  You just love having my attention.  Grandma came over yesterday and I got to spend all afternoon with you.  You were so well behaved, so funny and so loving.  I know you are still a baby yourself and you just don't know how to handle not getting all the attention.
You are starting to help with your brother by getting his diapers and pj's for me.  You amaze me every day with how smart you are.  You "talk" all day, but we still aren't understanding most of it.  I keep telling your dad that you're going to go from not saying much to speaking in full sentences.  We can tell how smart you are and you are learning new things every day.
Thank you for being you.  Tantrums and all!  And when you have a little girl some day and you call me to tell me the naughty things she did, I will pull this blog post up and remind you of some of the things you did back when you were only 21 months old.
I love you so much silly girl.
Love, Mommy
