Kase's Stats

The World's Cutest Little Brother had his 2-month checkup today so I wanted to update on here since I didn't have his stats last week for his official post.  He is healthy and growing so fast!

Weight:  14 lb 13 oz (89th percentile)
Height: 24 inches (83rd percentile)
Head: 41.5 cm (95th percentile)

According to the numbers, you'd think he was huge!  But I really don't think he's that big of a baby.  He's definitely long, but he's not as chubby as Kyla was at this age.

I keep having these "moments" where I forget things or just do something stupid.  Some people would call those blonde moments.  I think I just gave all my brains to my kids because I was never like this before having them.  And I think Kase's big head proves it.  So I will continue to use that excuse.

He also had to have 3 shots and an oral vaccine.  He took them like a champ, but has been a little fussier than normal.  He had a slight fever last night before bed, but nothing too bad.  He just needed a little extra snuggle time with Mama.  I'll take it!

Make sure to check out my post from earlier today where I talk about why I don't have to buy wipes for a long time and give a couple coupon tips.  And check back tomorrow for a giveaway!

Learned from the best!

Sometimes I have to laugh at how much I've changed since becoming a mom.  Not in a million years did I think I would be a SAHM who blogs and coupons.  I always thought using coupons was such a waste of time.  Oh, how times have changed!

My mother-in-law is an awesome couponer.  Let me just show you HOW awesome...

I ran out of room in the bathroom closet so I had to start storing them in Kase's closet...

Plus I have some on his changing table handy for when I pull the last one out and need to get the job done before getting peed on...

Now for the best part.  She got all of those wipes for only $1 each!  We can both get them for $1 from our local grocery stores.  I don't always do it just because she has us stocked up, but I do try to use my coupons when I have them because we go through so many wipes.

Each tub is anywhere from $3 to $4 regular price.  My grocery store is $3.39.  I'm not sure what Target's price is because I never buy them there.  Our grocery stores have them on sale for $1.98 every couple of weeks.  And then we have $0.50 coupons that both of our stores double so we only pay $0.98!  When you have two kids in diapers, that is an awesome savings!  Target doesn't double coupons, which is why I never buy them there.

There are almost always coupons for Pampers in the newspapers.  Plus you can get coupons online.  It also helps to have an awesome aunt who mails me diaper and wipe coupons...

Thanks, Linda!  My mom always saves me the coupons from their Sunday paper too.

I refuse to buy diapers without using a coupon.  I realize $2 off of a $25 box of diapers isn't a ton, but when you buy as many diapers as we do, every little bit helps!  I do buy those at Target because a) my grocery doesn't sell big packs and b) they only double coupons $0.50 or less.  I always wait to buy them when they're having a special where if you buy two big packs, you get a Target gift card (usually $10 gift card).  When you need the diapers anyway, this is awesome.  Combine it with my coupons and the 5% back I get for using my Target credit card, it makes it not seem SO bad how much money we spend on them.

The biggest thing with couponing is to use them on top of a sale.  If you need something and it's not on sale yet, obviously you should still use your coupon to at least save some money.  But if you can wait until it goes on sale (because almost everything will go on sale), you are getting a much better deal.  And if you shop at Target, make sure to check their coupons online.  You can print those off and use them in addition to manufacturer coupons.

So thanks to Grandma Cheryl, our kids will have clean butts for a LONG time!

Random Picture Dump

Remember how I said on Friday that I was going to go shopping and get a little break after a long week?  Well, my mom came up and we ended up taking Kyla with us.  And guess what that means?  Our shopping got caught short.  No kid-free Target trip for me.  Can anyone else relate to this?

So even though I didn't get my "vacation", I did finally get Kyla a Halloween costume.  After trying a few out, I quickly realized that there is NO WAY Kyla is going to keep a head band on.  So I went with something simple that you could tell what she was without head accessories.  What's she going to be?  Drumroll please....

A bumblebee who flies so fast that it's nearly impossible to get a picture of her!

Tyler had a meeting last night so I decided to pack up and go to my mom's for dinner.  I took their costumes along so my mom could see them.  We went to my brother's and knocked on their door with the costumes on :)

Kase is going to be the cutest darn giraffe you've ever seen!

I've done a couple photo shoots with him lately because I just can't get enough of his cuteness.  And let's face it, I only have a few months before he'll be on the move too.  I need to take advantage of it now while he doesn't have a choice but to let me snap pictures of him!  So here you have...the many faces of Kase Bradley...

Kyla got jealous yesterday so she climbed up by him.  She is always wanting to hold his hand now :)

The pumpkin hat is way too small, but I needed to get a couple pictures with it :)

Saturday we went up north to see Tyler's family.  We made the trip in one day because I had a Thirty-One party on Sunday.  So we were in the van for 6 hours and the kids did AWESOME!  We stopped once on the way up to feed Kase and we made it all the way home Saturday night without stopping or either one of them crying.  We are so lucky to have such great kids!

Such a great girl on the way up and she slept the whole way home!

Kase and his great grandma Alice.  I think she was pinching his little cheeks here :)

Kase and Grandma Cheryl

Uncle Clayt and Aunt Julie stopped by to see the kids!
Sunday I had my party and Tyler stayed home with the kids.  Kase must have cheered hard during the game, he was out when I got home!

Phew, thank you for making it through my obnoxious amount of pictures!  Thinking about everyone on the east coast dealing with the craziness of hurricane Sandy!

Protecting my pictures

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but I've started watermarking my pictures that I post.  See my website on the bottom right?

I've seen other bloggers do this and heard stories about people that had their pictures stolen and used by other people, but I just never took the extra step to do it.  By the way, it's about a 10 second extra step when uploading pictures.  I use Picasa to do it.

So what made me finally decide to do it?  This story.  A Facebook friend posted it about her SIL's niece, who has down syndrome.  Someone took her photos, renamed her and started a Facebook page and got millions of likes.  They claimed it was their daughter.  How freaking pathetic are people?  I just can't imagine, but I know this isn't the only time it's happened.

Another thing I've done to protect my pictures is disable right clicking.  Anyone could right click on my photos and save them to their computer and basically use them for whatever they want.  This is a really important step to protect yourself online.  I should have done it a lot sooner!  Now if they right click, it will say Function Disabled.  If you're interested in how to do this in Blogger, go here.  It's just a html gadget that you need to add in your layout.  Just copy and paste their code into the gadget.  I suggest you all do it!

I know that the weirdos in this world can probably still find a way to get our pictures if they want to.  But at least these two easy steps will make them work a little harder.

A Short Tot School Week

Tot School

We didn't do much this week since both kids were sick.  Kyla didn't want to play, she just wanted to be on my lap all day.  But I did want to share a couple things that she did do.

I let her paint the pumpkin that she picked out at the pumpkin patch.

So pretty, right?
We also made some super easy cookies that I saw on Mandy's blog.  All you need is Nutter Butter cookies, mini chocolate chips and white chocolate.

Oh, and a cute little red head to help :)

Stirring is hard work, need a cookie break!

Just melt the white chocolate in the microwave and stir.  Dip the cookies into the chocolate and put the eyes on.  It hardens very quickly so put the eyes on as you go.

Finished product!

Tyler tried one and said they were delicious.  I'm sending them to work with him tomorrow because they won't exactly help with this weight loss thing I'm trying.  The other picture was too dark that showed the ones Kyla decorated.  There are several that have one or three eyes and some finger prints.  I think we'll leave those at home for Daddy to eat so we don't share our colds :)

She wanted to help clean dishes when we were done.

The ghost shirt was only fitting for this little project.
Still loving her magnets this week...

Helping me make waffles...

She got mad when I had to take the waffle batter away to cook them so I gave her some water with food color in it.  She loved it.

Can't wait to take her trick-or-treating for the first time on Wednesday!

Finally on the mend & some Friday letters

It's been a rough week!  Lots of snot, puke, fevers, snot, coughs and more snot.

Kyla started feeling sick Monday, but Tuesday was her worst day.  She was miserable and the only time she wasn't screaming bloody murder was when I was holding her.  She couldn't sleep because she was so congested, she was throwing up and had a fever.  She's slowly been getting better.  She hasn't thrown up since Wednesday night and her cold is slowly getting better.  Just lots of snot!

I was very happy to see her playing again!
Unfortunately she gave it to her brother.  I tried so hard to make sure he didn't get it.  Washed our hands every five seconds (at least it felt like it).  Always had one eye on Kyla making sure she didn't touch him.  But Wednesday morning Kase got up at 3:00 am and he had it!  The poor boy couldn't breathe through his nose at all and his eyes were red and watery.  He hasn't really kept anything down for two days.  He usually eats 4 ounces every two hours and is barely eating 1 oz and whatever he does eat, comes out in full force.  Poor baby :(

Snuggle time with Daddy
I know kids get sick and they get over it, but it's still not easy.  It's exhausting actually.  But we made it through the first round!  Hopefully we won't have to do it again for a long time!

I have the "hold two sick babies at a time" mastered.  Kyla now always wants to come snuggle with me while I'm holding Kase
Tomorrow we're heading up to see Tyler's family.  We're making the trip there and back in one day because I have a Thirty-One party on Sunday and I know the kids will sleep better in their own beds.  It's a 3-hour drive one way so we're going to leave as early as we can in the morning and head home about 8:00 tomorrow night.  It will be Kase's first long trip in the van so I'm crossing my fingers he'll do ok!

Dear 3 loads of laundry, I washed and dried you, now can you please fold and put yourself away?

Dear Kase, thank you for sleeping through the night!  Although you were wide awake with me until 11:00 last night, you slept until 8:00 this morning and Mama NEEDED that!

Dear Kyla, sorry I am such a slacker and haven't got your Halloween costume yet.  I'm going to get one tonight.  I promise!

Dear Bloggers, thank you!  Thank you for following me.  For commenting.  For the advice.  For writing your own blogs for me to read.  Some people don't understand this whole blogging thing, but I am so thankful I started it.  I love the friendships that it has created.  Even if we never meet in person :)

Dear Weekend, I know you're going to fly by because I have a lot going on, but could you let me relax just a little bit please?

Dear Blogger, thank you for letting me schedule my posts.  I haven't been able to write much this week with sick kiddos, but when I do have time, I write a few posts at a time and schedule them.

Dear Kase (again), it's a good thing nobody comes to visit us because I am one stinky mama lately with you puking on me all the time!

Dear Tyler, it's been a long week and I need to just get out of this germ fest for a little while.  Going shopping for Kyla's costume is going to be my excuse tonight, ok?  Thanks!

Dear Kyla (again), please learn how to wipe your own nose soon.  And I mean with a tissue.  Not your arm.  Or my shirt.

Dear Readers, I apologize for all the snot talk today.  Just keeping it real :)  Have a great weekend!

Sibling Comparisons

As I was looking through my recent pictures on my phone of Kase, it hit me that I had very similar pictures of Kyla when she was little.  So I did some digging and thought it would be fun to check out some comparisons.  Sometimes I think Kase looks so much like Kyla did and other times I don't.  She was definitely chubbier and had a lot more hair!

Yes, Tyler did this on purpose.  He had to have the same pose too.  He'll have to save that shirt and hat in case we have baby #3!

What do you guys think?  Can you tell they're siblings? :)
