The 411 on Mrs. Mommy

Today I'm linking up with Becky at From Mrs. to Mama for Bloggers 411.

I'm always finding and reading new blogs.  And I always wish I knew more about them and yes, I tend to blog stalk them and read a bunch of their previous posts to see what I'm missing out on.  I love finding new mommy blogs.  I especially love reading blogs of mom's that have two kids close together so I can get advice.

When I saw Becky doing a Bloggers 411 link-up, I thought it would be so much fun to "get to know" other bloggers better.  As strange as it sounds, I consider a lot of bloggers (who I've never met before in real life) friends.

And I know I do a lot of these question and answer things, but sometimes it's fun to think of the answers.  Plus I often lack creativity for my posts so this is an easy way out :)

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging?
I started blogging in August of 2011 (almost my one year bloggy anniversary!).  Before I had my daughter, I didn't blog and never read any other blogs.  But after having her and becoming a SAHM, I stumbled across some mommy blogs and loved reading them.  I thought creating my own would be a great way to keep family updated with what's going on with us, but to also have a journal for myself and our family.  I was home all day and would talk my husband's ear off the moment he walked in the door every day.  This helps me (and him) stay sane.  And it's a great baby book for the kiddos that they will be able to look back on some day.

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
Yes, I went to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and studied Elementary/Middle Education, played basketball for two years and met my husband, Tyler.

3. Where have you traveled?
A few places in the United States such as California, Florida, Pennsylvania and of course all of the states surrounding Wisconsin.  We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon.  And we were lucky enough to travel to Italy and Greece the year after we got married.  We haven't done much traveling lately though.

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
I would buy us a bigger house and as boring as it sounds, pay off our vehicles and student loans.

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
I just did a post on pet peeves that you can read here.  I have quite a few, but I'd say my top 3 are (in no particular order):

~Stupid drivers
~Bad customer service
~Facebook - specifically bad grammar/spelling and attention seeking status updates

6. What is your favorite movie?
Growing up, my brother and I were obsessed with The Goonies.  Now I don't really have a favorite.  It really depends on my mood.

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
I'm not a big drinker, but I do enjoy a glass of wine once in awhile or a fruity drink like a margarita or sangria.  Otherwise, I love milk, chocolate milk and soda (love soda a little too much).  Lately while I've been pregnant I've been enjoying lemonade.

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
Blog or catch up on my reality TV trash that I have on the DVR.  To be honest though, I don't really like doing things alone that much.  I'd much rather have someone with me.  I love being able to go out with the hubby for a date night or hang out with my mom and go shopping or something.  That's what I consider me time.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
Target.  Exciting huh?  Haha.  But I can get everything I need there!

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
I know if I really thought about it I could come up with something better.  But the first thing that comes to mind is when I took Kyla to the post office one day and I had to put her down so I could package something up.  She knocked over a huge table of display items.  I was horrified.  Little stinker!

11. What day would you love to relive again?
July 15, 2006 - our wedding day.  It was such an amazing day and so much fun.  I'd love to do it all again!

12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
Jessica Biel - she just seems like a simple girl with not a lot of drama.

13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
Subway and Ben Franklin in high school.  Nike Outlet Store, waitress and a gas station through college.

14. Show us a picture from high school or college.
I couldn't find any right now (although I know I have some somewhere), but I did take a picture of my college ID, haha.  Most people lose their ID's at some point in college, but I had the same one and for some reason, still have it.  How young do I look?  This was in 2001 and yes, I had braces :)  Kyla has a little wallet so she has all our old cards in there that she likes to play with so this is one of them.

15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
Ever since Jason's season of the Bachelor, I've always wanted to go to New Zealand.  How amazing does this look?

16. Show us the most current picture of you or you and your family.

Family swim day a few weeks ago
After searching and searching, I realized we definitely need some new family pictures.  Tyler and I are always the ones taking pictures so we have so many pictures of Kyla with one of us, but we never do a family picture.  The last one I could find of the three of us actually posing was this one from my cousin's wedding last October.

17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
Hmm, that's a good question.  Tyler and I will be married 11 years.  If we are "two and through" with kids, I will hopefully be teaching in a school somewhere since the kids will be in school.  If we decide to have more kids, I may still be home with them.  We plan on being in a different house by then for sure.  But most importantly, I see myself having a happy, healthy family.

If there's anything else you'd like to know, leave me a comment and ask.  I'm a pretty open book :)

I recently created a Mrs. Mommy Facebook page.  Go on over and "like" it :)

  1. Great answers! I worked at a couple gas stations in college & loved it! Your lottery answer was a lot like mine would probably be, definitely pay stuff off & get a nicer house!

  2. I worked at a gas station through college too! :-) Have I recounted on my blog about the time the naked guy came shopping while I was alone working? If not I should blog that some time haha

    1. Umm, we definitely need to hear the story of the naked guy, haha. It reminds me of when I was studying in the basement of the library in college one night and some guy came over and pulled his pants down and whipped "it" out in front of me. I still have nightmares! Ok, your turn...

  3. I am 100% with you on the $10,000 for Target...I could go crazy in that store:) And bad customer service totally turns me off..I refuse to shop at places that dont take care of their customers!!! I loved this post and getting to know more about you!!

Hope you're having a great week!

  4. I love your embarrassing moment story - that would be! :)

It was fun reading your answers.

  5. Great post---totally know what you mean, we have hardly any family pictures:) You are almost there, 34 weeks! Eek, how exciting!!

  6. I still have my college ID too! lol... for some reason I still carry it in my wallet?
