18 months old

Dear Kyla,
I cannot believe you are 18 months old already.  Seriously, where has the time gone?  We will be planning your 2nd birthday party before we know it.  I know you still don't understand what's about to happen, but I can't wait to see how great of a big sister you will be.  I will sure miss you those couple of days, but you will have so much fun with Grandma and Grandpa and hopefully they will bring you in to visit us.  You will always be our #1 baby and I am going to cherish every single second we have together as you as our only child.

Watching you grow and learn new things every day is the absolute best.  I hope you never forget how much Mommy and Daddy love you.  Sometimes we just look at each other and can't believe how amazing you are and how much we love you.  All we can do is smother you with hugs and kisses.  Thank you for being such a great little girl and making us smile every single day.  You are the best thing that has ever happened to us.  We love you!

Love, Mommy & Daddy

18 months is officially the worst (so far) age to try to get good pictures.  I try to get a picture of you with the monthly stickers and you rip them off before I can even turn the camera on.  So I am posting this cute video of you laughing at Daddy while he's outside grilling our dinner.  I need to do more videos.  You and Daddy have so much fun together!

STATS:
Weight:  26.2 pounds
Height: 32.3 inches
*They told me the percentiles for both, but I can't remember exactly.  Both were around the 75th percentile I think.
Teeth:  All but your 2-year molars
Diaper:  5
Clothes: 24 months - 2T
Shoe:  Just got into size 5's
Hair: 3 different shades...mostly red, but it's still coming in really light in the back
Eyes: blue

Favorite foods:  You are still a pretty good eater.  But when I give you something new, you are hesitant for awhile to try it.  But once you try it, you almost always love it.
Favorite toys:  babies, balls, your little kitchen, slide, just now starting to love your school bus (you were scared of it before), shopping cart
Favorite activities:  playing with Daddy, riding on his shoulders, playing outside, playing ball, going down your slide, making a mess playing in the basement, reading books, riding in your new buggy from Grandma, playing at the park, running all over the place

What you've been up to:
~Helping Mama water flowers with your little watering can

~You went swimming for the first time at Aunt Sharon's and Uncle Mike's

~You have been having little tantrums once in awhile when we change your diaper.
~You are quickly becoming a Grandma's girl, which I am fine with because it makes me feel a lot better about you staying with her while I'm in the hospital with your baby brother.
~Except for the occasional naughty moment, you are listening really well!
~You love to throw things away for Mama.
~On our normal days you take about a 3 hour nap.
~You let Mama know you're ready to get up by yelling "Hey" really loud.
~You still love playing outside.

~You are a major Daddy's girl lately.
~You love to crawl on laps to read books.

You plopped right on Uncle Mark's lap to read your book :)
~Grandma Karen bought you a little buggy that you absolutely love.  Your favorite part is beeping the horn.

~When I ask you if you need a new diaper, you run into your bedroom, grab a diaper and lay on the floor.
~You no longer sit in your high chair.  You sit at the table like a big girl!

I can't wait to see what the next month brings us.  Maybe you will be a big sister!  I think you're ready!

  2. Amy, I love all the pictures and video and being able to read your letter to Kyla. Thank you so so much. She really is getting so big. She is so precious, I can hardly stand not seeing her. Love you all, Grandma Barb

  3. Cute! I really need to move Brielle to the table instead of the highchair...she always tries to sit by Raya! Unfortunately the wild child also likes to stand on the table, so for now I keep her "locked" in the high chair :-)
