Montessori Makeover Part 2

If you haven't read Part 1, you can see it here...

Next up for our little makeover is the bathroom.  Our main bathroom drawers and cabinet have always been pretty empty because Tyler and I always get ready in our bathroom.  So this wasn't much of a makeover, but just put Kyla's things in here for her easy access.

In the middle drawer are her personal care items (toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, comb).  When she gets a little older, I will add a little bottle of lotion so she can start rubbing it on herself too.

Since I have done this, all we have to say is "Kyla, let's go brush your teeth" and she runs into the bathroom, opens her drawer and grabs her toothpaste and toothbrush.  It sure didn't take long for her to catch on!

The bottom drawer has her bath toys so she can get them out and put them in the tub when she's ready for her bath.  She does this already too.  She really only prefers the balls though :)

The cabinet has a basket with towels and wash cloths that she can also get out for bath time.

Although this is all fairly new to her, she is really getting the hang of it.  I love watching her learn new things.  It's so great to see her so excited to do these things on her own.

When fall/winter come and we are wearing jackets, I am going to put a little hook inside our coat closet that is low enough for her to reach.  I think it's good for her to get in the habit of hanging up her jacket (and then maybe it'll remind Mommy and Daddy to do the same instead of draping it over the kitchen chairs).

I'm really excited for our little makeover and can't wait for Kyla to continue learning all these practical life skills.  Some of these things may seem obvious, but while doing this, I realized even if Kyla wanted to do some of these things, she wouldn't have been able to.  I had everything completely out of her reach.  I am realizing that I have been doing everything for her instead of teaching her how to do things on her own.  I never said I was a professional Mommy.  I'm just learning as I go :)
