Thursday Randoms

I'm very excited that my bookshelf came today for the basement.  It's much smaller than I pictured, but I still love it!  Kyla will be able to see the front of the books instead of them all being stacked up.  We will only keep certain books down there at a time (it doesn't fit many anyway) and I will swap them out often.  I need to fill it with more books, but most of them are in Kyla's room and she's sound asleep.

I brought Kyla's little rocker down so she can sit and read.  I just randomly placed things for now.  I'm sure it will all be moved around.

I am in desperate need of a colorful rug!

Obviously the basement toy/school area is still a work in progress, but I'm so pumped that we're going to Ikea this Sunday!  My mom, aunt, sister in law and I are all going and I could not be more excited!  I have my sights on a big storage/shelving thing for toys downstairs, possibly a desk or table for the school area, possibly a cute rug if I can find one, and any other random cute things I can find.  I can't wait to share my goodies with you all :)

Today for our school time we went over to our neighbor's for a play date.  Kyla is obsessed with their two cats.  She pets them, talks to them, laughs at them, pulls their ears and then when they have had enough, they run away and she chases them.  Oy, poor cats!  She just couldn't get enough.  She was a pretty good girl though.  Until she dumped the cat's water bowl all over the kitchen floor and on her pants and socks.  And then it was time to go home!

I really wanted to get out of the house (you could probably tell because of my vacation post from earlier, haha) so we took a drive to Babies R Us.  I wanted to just peek at double strollers.  They didn't have any so I guess I need to just look online.  I did end up buying a few little things.  Couldn't come home empty handed :)  Just got two books and a few new bibs.

Here are a few pictures from tonight when Daddy got home...

Hi blogger friends!

  1. I love your little school area! It is coming along! Your book shelf is cute!!! I organize my books by season and then rotate them; that would be an idea. Can't wait to see your finds from IKEA!!!

  2. She is so adorable! I'm looking forward to going to Ikea too. Also looking forward to seeing Kirsten!

  3. Hi Kyla! :-)

We have that same bookshelf. The girls love it because it's just their height. But yes, I agree it doesn't hold nearly enough books when you've got shelves and shelves of them haha. I really need about 2 more! I have been rotating them ....keeping them all in a closet and then bringing out about 15 at a time for the bookshelf. I like Briana's idea of rotating them for different seasons/holidays :-)

    Have fun at Ikea!!!!!
