Shopping, anyone?

Tyler forwarded me this article in an email today...

Good news, holiday shoppers!  Research shows that shopping has its health benefits!

A 2008 study by Britain’s Brunel University showed that shopping is associated with increased activity in the part of the brain linked to positive thinking and pleasure. This is no surprise to those of us who have felt that release of mood-lifting endorphins as we spy that pair of beautiful earrings or sweater that we know would look so good on us.

Indeed, research shows that levels of dopamine, a neurotransmitter released during pleasurable experiences, can rise sharply when shopping. This mood enhancement, along with the social fulfillment many find when shopping with a friend, boosts the immune system and also helps keeps the brain agile.

Here’s the best news: Researchers found that the same positive effects of shopping can be had when simply window shopping. So, if you want the feel-good, but don’t want the spending-pain, leave the wallet at home, grab a buddy for an overdue visit, and enjoy the walking, the conversation, and the healthy pleasure of your favorite shopping mecca.

Interesting, huh?  His email also included a little message from him...

Add emphasis to the "Researchers found that the same positive effects of shopping can be had when simply window shopping" part... ;)

I think that is a GREAT excuse to go shopping this weekend.  What do you all think?  I actually do love taking Kyla to the mall, putting her in the stroller and just walking around.  It's a good stress reliever for me.  And I don't need to buy anything to be happy.  I plan on doing that several more times this winter.

Speaking of shopping, I'm in the market for a new blog design.  Like way over due for a new blog design.  I know I've said this before and a lot of you commented that you don't care what it looks like and it's fine the way it is.  But it bothers me.  Don't ask why.  It just does.  And it's about time I do something about it!  So blogger friends, can you help me out?  Do you know anyone that designs them?  Where did you get your new designs from?  I really have no clue where to start, but I'd really like to get a new look for the New Year.  I'd love some advice.  Thanks :-)

Tyler and I went out to eat at Olive Garden tonight with some other Thirty-One ladies and their hubbies.  Briana, my Director, must have known that a) I/We needed a night out and b) I've been craving Olive Garden for oh, I don't know, about 6 months!  I've told Tyler and my mom on several occasions that we needed to go, but we never did.  So thanks, Bri!  It was great to meet some new people.  We should definitely do it again!  And as always, thank you Mom for coming up and watching Kyla!  Glad she was good for you :)

I know you're all going to be very disappointed, but I didn't take any pictures today.  Sorry!  But I did find these random ones in my camera that I can share...

Trying waffles for the first time

A daily activity...emptying my kitchen drawers
And a sneak peak of Tiny Tot School with ping pong balls...

"I love Tot School, Mom!"

More on Tot School on Sunday!

And now I have a confession to make.

I read the Bachelor spoilers.  I know who Ben picks.  I actually didn't even read it on purpose today.  Haha, well sort of.  I was reading Reality Steve's website because I heard the Bachelor filed a lawsuit against him or something.  And he mentioned Ben's final four girls.  It was just right there.  And then I couldn't NOT see which of those four he chooses.  I just can't help myself.  Ugh!  Does anyone else read the spoilers or is it just me?  I always regret it.  But still do it.  Every. Single. Season.  Damn it!  And the funniest dumbest part?  I still watch every single episode.  And know everything single that is going to happen.  So stupid, right?  It's ok, you can say it.

The best part of my day is actually from last night after I blogged for the day.  Tyler walked in the door from work and Kyla said, clear as day, "Daddy!"  It was unbelievable.  Tyler and I looked at each other and just laughed.  It was so cute.

  1. I love to go walk the mall with the girls too. Kaykee enjoys running & Keira gets to hang out in the stroller. It's even more fun when you get to walk out with items you've wanted

Keira has yet to say dada yet, it's all about MAMA!!

  2. It was fun getting out with all of you tonight! Thanks for coming! Your mom is so sweet to come and watch Kyla for you too!

Love that picture of Kyla trying waffles...she's not quite sure what to think! :)

Oh no! You know who he chooses??? I didn't even know about this spoiler site until you mentioned it on here, and nope, I won't be checking it out! I like the surprise! :) You are so funny!!

  3. Amy, why does it not surprise me about the spoiler. If memory serves me right, Christmas presents were always a temptation too!

  4. try

I used that when I was blogging
