Happy December!

I love December, but this year it is going to be extra special.  I have been waiting to be able to start all the fun, family Christmas traditions and even though Kyla won't really know what's going on, I can't wait!  I've always wanted to put cookies and milk out for Santa, but this year I can do it without anyone thinking I'm nuts.  I can't wait for Santa to fill the stockings.  I can't wait to put Kyla in her fuzzy, Christmas pj's on Christmas Eve and wake up Christmas morning.  I still need to get her some Christmas pj's!  We have always traveled around Christmas (except last year because I was too pregnant for traveling), but now that we have a family, we are going to sleep at home and wake up to see Santa came!  Anyway, I'm very happy it's December :)

I'm also happy that we have carpet in the basement!

Ripped up the old stuff on the stairs to match the new stuff in the basement

First time checking out the stairs!

How exciting!  It actually feels like a living space now!  I thought it was going to be a long day with the banging going on down there, but surprisingly she slept through it all for a good morning nap.  We had to take the gate down for them and of course all she wanted to do was crawl over by the stairs to see what was going on.  When I go downstairs to change the laundry, she usually stands at the gate and "talks" to me.  She yells "AH" and I yell back at her from downstairs.  We go back and forth until I come back up.  It's so funny.  So today she was trying to talk to the carpet guys.  But they didn't play along like Mom does!

We are waiting on the electrician to come back to do the ceiling lights, outlets and switches.  He's waiting on a few backordered things, but hopefully he'll be here next week.  And next weekend Tyler is putting the bathroom floor in.  Then the plumber is coming to do what he does.  Tyler and Brian will do the base boards some day soon, which won't take long.  We're going to look at furniture tomorrow.  The only thing that would keep it from being completely finished by Christmas is the electrician.  We're not really sure when he can come.  I'm SO excited though!  We are going to decorate it down there for Kyla's birthday party!

Speaking of her birthday party, I really need to get going on some things.  I have the invite picked out, just need to wait until we get Kyla's pictures taken so we have a cute, recent one to put on there.  I also know what we're going to do for food.  I just need to figure out the little details like the decorations.  I have some ideas, just need to do something about them :)

This morning I went to check on Kyla around 8:00 and this is what I found (don't mind the sideways picture, it's saved the correct way on my computer, but will only upload the wrong way, stupid thing)...

At some point she reached her arm through her crib and grabbed the monitor off the table.  She must have been having a grand ole time pushing all the buttons as you can see the blue nightlight and red light on.  And of course the cord up by her head.  Needless to say, we'll be moving the monitor tonight.  Little stinker!  I'm not sure how I didn't hear any of this THROUGH the monitor?

She loves to play with gnaw on ritz crackers.  I'm amazed how much of a mess one little cracker can make.

I realized she takes a bite and then pushes it out with her tongue.  The entire thing ended up mushed up all over her, the high chair and the floor.

If you love Target as much as I do, make sure you print out this coupon for a $10 gift card when you spend $50.  Obviously it isn't a great deal to spend $50 just to get the gift card, but if you need stuff anyway, make sure to get the coupon!  It expires Saturday though.  Sorry for the late notice :)  I was really excited to get a great deal on Pampers diapers tonight.  Target has the deal right now where if you buy two boxes (around $20 each), you get a $10 gift card.  So since I needed a few other things anyway, I knew I'd be spending $50 to get another $10 gift card (with the coupon I mentioned).  Plus I had two $2 coupons for diapers.  So I would be getting $20 in gift cards (which you can't use on this transaction, but you can save them and get a box of diapers for free when you need them again) plus $4 off from the coupons.  PLUS...I had a $10 gift card from awhile ago to use tonight!  Oh, what a sweet deal!  Too bad Target was sold out of size 5 Pampers Cruisers.  Of course they were.  I'm going to check out the other Target tomorrow because it's too good of a deal to pass up.  Two big packs of diapers that normally would be $40 are basically only costing me $16.

There's also a good deal on Crest toothpaste for those of you who coupon.  Not AS good of a deal, but still good.  A two-pack of Crest Complete is on sale for $4.49 (normally $5.49) and right now you can get a FREE Oral B toothbrush when you buy the two pack of Crest.  Plus I used a $1.00 off coupon that I had so I got two big things of toothpaste and a toothbrush for only $3.49.  I had two coupons so I got the deal twice.  Four tubes of toothpaste and two toothbrushes.  Not bad!

Sorry if you're not a couponer and you could careless, but I know some of you like deals like this so I wanted to share :)

Speaking of deals, there's still time to enter my Facebook giveaway.  I am giving away two FREE Thirty-One products.  The winners will get to choose from a list of great products!  Go to my page for details.  It will only take you about a minute to enter and there aren't a ton of entries so you have a good chance of winning something for free.  Use it as a gift or keep it for yourself.  I won't judge :)  The giveaway ends Monday!  Here's the link:  http://www.facebook.com/groups/291258947568300/

The best part of my day today was going downstairs when Tyler got home from work and all three of us sitting on the carpet down there admiring our new basement and thinking about all the fun we will have down there!

  1. I still love getting up on Christmas morning and seeing what Santa brings. We added going to a movie later in the afternoon for our Christmas tradition and love it! Cherish those moments because they go by so fast, but every year it's just as wonderful if not more so. I also love our Christmas Eve tradition of getting together with my most favorite people!

  2. Love your new carpet! Raya always makes "snow angels" on carpet when she feels it meets her comfy/cozy standards, and yours looks like it would have her approval! :-)
