A good day!

The electrician came this morning and put the lights in the main room downstairs and the outlets and switches.  Kyla and I were patiently waiting for them to finish so we could go shopping!

I got some Christmas shopping done, but I can't tell you what I got because most of the people I bought for, read this blog :)  I seriously had the best time shopping.  It was great to get out of the house, the mall was slow since it was a Wednesday afternoon, and I enjoyed spending my own hard-earned money on other people.  I really should do all my shopping Christmas Eve though because I wanted to give Tyler all his presents.  I did give him one early.  He's been wanting this hat and I knew he'd want to wear it now.  And let's face it, I just suck at surprises.

I thought about having Kyla sit on Santa's lap.  There was no one in line and I was just checking out the prices of the pictures and Santa's helper starting talking to us.  She said to wheel Kyla in there next to Santa (she was in the stroller) to see how she reacted.  She didn't cry, but she definitely wasn't thrilled with him.  He tried to get her to give him a five, but she just kept looking at me, then back at Santa and back at me.  Making sure I didn't leave her with that scary guy.  After seeing the prices, I don't think we're going to do it this year.  I just don't think it's worth it.  Especially since I know she'll freak out.  Is that bad?  Are you all having your little ones do the Santa thing?

I did buy Kyla a puzzle and book for Christmas.  I can tell you that because I don't think she'll be reading this before Christmas ;)  The ladies at the toy store loved her.  And she loved the attention.  When we were leaving, I told her to say bye-bye and she waved!  For the first time!  I was so proud!  I tried to get her to wave bye-bye to Santa too, but she waited until we turned the other direction and then started waving.  I'll take it!

She also started to stand on her own for longer periods of time today.  She was standing at the TV stand and let go and stood there for about 30 seconds.  I tried not to scream so I wouldn't scare her.  Eventually she just slowly sat down.  Proud Momma today (and every day, really).

Remember Kyla's cute turkey shirt that Shawna from Girls Just Wanna Have Fun made?  Well she also made her a Christmas tree shirt and we decided it was a good day to wear it.  It got us in the Christmas shopping mood.  I wanted her to wear jeans with it, but jeans aren't really working for her yet.  I can barely get them over her thighs and then they're too big in the waist.

We're practicing saying "ball".

All bundled up to go to Home Depot!

Daddy being silly with a shoe on his head

Mmm, I love to eat shoes!  I like Mom's the most, but this will do...

 Super baby!

And the following pictures are me just asking for one good picture.  Just one?  Please?

Tyler would do super baby and then sit her down and she'd be laughing so I tried snapping a quick one.  But she'd take off on me!  I was either too late or got Tyler's arm in it.  I guess this gives me an idea of what Saturday will be like with her professional pictures.

Good enough :)  How cute is this shirt by the way?

The best part of my day was when Tyler was on speaker phone with some girl from UW-Madison begging him to donate money and Kyla went over to him and kissed him on the cheek.  It was the cutest thing I've ever seen.  Of course I didn't have my camera ready, but I got close...

I love you Daddy!
For those of you who may be going to Target this week, there is another $10 off when you spend $50.  Get the coupon here.  It expires Saturday.  I'm not sure I need much from Target this week, but thought I'd share in case any of you were going there anyway.

And to end for tonight, my favorite picture in a long time!

TOUCHDOWN!

  1. Awww, the shirt looks so cute on her! :-)

Isn't it annoying trying to take a picture of them at this age?! For Brielle's last pictures the only way we got her to sit still was because she was "stunned" enough by the new place and photographer that she didn't feel comfortable moving until the end...and then those last pictures were quite a chore because she was crawling all over!!! Good luck this weekend :-)
