My baby is 10 months old!

Today you are 10 months old.  Double digits!  Today is our first snowfall.  Today I am amazed that my little baby is only two months shy of her first birthday.  Today I am thankful.  Thankful that you are my daughter.  Thankful that you are happy.  Thankful that you are healthy.

Here are your 10 month stats:

Weight:  21.8 pounds (According to our home scale)

The last couple of nights you have been waking up more often.  But you're still going to bed at 8:00 pm and getting up around 8:00 am.  You're still taking two naps a day, which Momma loves!  This morning you woke up at 8:30 and were ready for your nap at 9:15 and you slept until noon!  You definitely take after Mommy.  She likes her sleep too :)  I sometimes even sneak a little nap in when you do in the mornings.  I hope your two naps a day continue for awhile!  You're such a happy girl when you wake up!

You are eating four 6 oz. bottles a day.  One when you wake up, another one around noon, 4:00 and around 7:30 before bedtime.  You still eat baby food (fruits and veggies), but are starting to eat more and more real food.  You love pretty much everything you've tried.  Mashed potatoes, noodles, hamburger, cottage cheese, shredded cheese, green beans, corn, crackers.  Dinner time is our favorite time of day.  Daddy's home from work and we all sit at the table, eat and laugh.  And laugh.  And laugh.  You absolutely love when Mom and Dad are both giving you attention.  You also like to take little sips of my water out of my cup.

I can't believe you already have 8 teeth!  Four on top and four on the bottom.  We brush your little teeth every night and you LOVE it!

What you've been up to
Girl, you can move!  I swear you have two different speeds.  Your normal crawling speed and the crazy fast speed that gets turned on when you're trying to escape Daddy from "getting you" or when you see something you shouldn't have (cords, shoes, etc.).  I love seeing your little butt crawl as fast as you can.  You enjoy crawling with your head down so you can watch your little hands move.  But that often leads to you running into things head first.  You stand up a lot and like to walk while we hold your hands.

Mom has to tell you "No" a lot.  You don't like it.  At all.  You really get mad when I hold your arm down so you can't get whatever you're trying to get.  You grunt and your face gets red.  You're a feisty one, that's for sure!

You love when Mom and Dad are both home at night and we turn the TV off and play with you.  You are so active and energetic.  You usually end up needing a bath because you're full of sweat from playing so hard.

You still like to put things in your mouth and crawl around.  I always say you're our little puppy dog.  You especially love your little hippo from your bath toys.

You can now make your way all over the house.  Before you would think you were stuck in the living room and couldn't figure out how to get to the bedrooms.  You'd see me in the bathroom or bedroom from the living room and crawl to the love seat and cry.  Now you know that you can crawl AROUND the love seat to get to me.

You're talking a lot, but no words yet.  We often hear baa, fff, sssss, and daa.  And a whole lot of jibberish :)

You can now find just about anything on the floor to put in your mouth.  You're making Mommy have to sweep and vacuum more than she's used to :)

The snow has put a damper on our sidewalk chalk pictures.  Bummer!  But here are a few from today, your 10 month birthday!

Dancing with Daddy

Kyla, Daddy and I love you more than you'll ever know.  You make every single day special.  I can't wait to see what I get to write about at 11 months.  I wonder if you'll be taking steps?  Thank you for being such an awesome baby!

Today, and every day, I am thankful that I can stay home with Kyla and watch her grow and learn.  Sometimes I think about it and think it's too good to be true.  I am so lucky that Tyler works so hard for us.  I am thankful that we have our beautiful, healthy daughter and can celebrate every monthly milestone.  I can't believe we will be celebrating her 1st birthday in two months.  We are going to celebrate her birthday the weekend of January 7th.  We are thinking about going to the Dells for the weekend and celebrating her birthday at an indoor waterpark.  We're hoping our family can join us for a night away.  I know Emma and Gianna would absolutely love it!  We'll see, no definite plans yet!

  1. I love the pictures!!! Need some of them. Kyla is so lucky to have such great parents. Keep up the good work Amy I'm so proud of you.
    Love mom

  2. You should get her snow bunny outfit on and write 10 months old in the snow!!!

Great blog! Happy 10 month birthday, Kyla!!

  3. I love the Dells idea. We started taking Kirsten when she was 2 years old when the indoor water areas were really small scale. It became a yearly tradition with us. Now that she is in college and we don't do it anymore so I guess I will be inviting myself along!

  4. I'm sorry, but I started plotting your demise the moment you started talking about Kyla's naps--are you serious?! Brielle's super long nap of the day is 1.5 hours if I'm lucky. Maybe I'm not putting enough Nyquil in her bottle :-P

Tyler looks thrilled in the daddy/daughter picture lol

Love the pics of her in the rocking chair!

  5. Happy 10 months miss Kyla. You are lucky she takes 2 naps. Both girls take 1 long nap from 12-4 which is awesome!!! She is to cute. Her little pink & grey outfit looks so warm & cozy
