Confessions of a SAHM

In case you're like me and not much of an acronym person, SAHM means stay at home mom.  Probably fairly obvious but ya never know :)

I thought since I write a blog and claim to be open and honest, I'll share some mommy confessions.

1.  I love that I don't have to get out of my pj's most days.  A lot of people say they have to get up, shower, do their hair and put makeup on.  Not this Momma!  I love staying in my pj's, especially now that it's getting colder outside.  Most days the only place we go is for a walk so I throw on some sweats.  I like getting Kyla dressed cute though!  Don't get me wrong, I do love getting dressed up once in awhile too!

2.  I take naps.  And I love it!  Not every day, but I can if I want, which is awesome!

3.  While Kyla is napping, I should probably be cooking or cleaning.  Sometimes that happens, but often times I blog or catch up on my shows.

4.  I mentioned this yesterday, but I LOVE Target and often go there just to walk around.

5.  I have a tendency to be lazy and play with Kyla all day until about 3:00 and then I pick up the house, do dishes, and think about dinner.  Tyler probably thinks I was busy doing this stuff all day.  Or I don't have him fooled at all.  Probably the latter.

6.  I don't miss work at all.  I miss some of the people, but that's it.  I believe 100% I am doing the right thing being home with Kyla.

7.  Sometimes Kyla and I drive to Kwik Trip for a cappuccino or car wash, just to get out of the house.

8.  I'm really ashamed of this one, but I DVR The View just to get a little gossip every day.

9.  I look forward to getting the mail every day (even if it's just bills).

10.  I do the Hot Dog dance every day and Kyla laughs at me.

11.  I probably kiss Kyla 50 times a day.  Ok, that might be a little high, but you get the point.

12.  I sometimes take extra long showers at night when Tyler's home just for a little extra "me" time.  Don't tell him, he already complains about the water bill :)

13.  I let Kyla play in her crib for a little bit in the morning so I have some time to wake up and get mentally prepared for the day.  And regret staying up so late, especially since she's starting to get up earlier.  I miss my 8:30 riser!

14.  I sing and dance and act silly.  All day, every day.  Kyla's going to think she has the craziest Mom in town!

15.  I know this isn't a big secret, but I'm a reality tv junkie.  Seriously, it's bad!

16.  I leave my Facebook and blog up all day on the laptop and get really excited when someone messages/emails me.  And a blog comment?  The best! (hint hint)

17.  I go in Kyla's room every night before I go to bed just to peek on her and watch her sleep.

18.  I said I was going to be in bed by 10:00 last night.  It ended up being 11:30 and I couldn't fall asleep until about 1:30 and then woke up several times.  Ugh!  I think the cold Tyler and Kyla had might be making it's way to Momma :(

I'm so excited to announce that I will have a guest blogger posting in the next week or so.  I can't wait to see what they write and to share it with you.  I didn't give them a topic, just told them to write whatever they want!  Should be interesting :)  Stay tuned!

Can you relate to any of these confessions?  Don't be shy...

  1. This is a fun post! I just thought of something the other day that I thought would be fun and honest to share about me staying at home, and I thought it would be cool to do a post kind of like this. Of course, now I forgot what it was, but I am sure I can think of many interesting things to share.

So excited for your guest blogger! Another great idea!!!

  2. I was a SAHM til Jill went to Kindergarten. then I got a job that let me leave at 3 :) Worked out so well. I still get done at 3, which Jill now hates, because she doesn't get to drive to school since I can still pick her up.

  3. Yeah, a lot of them. Only, we make it a point to go out every day. I have to let my boys release their energy or they drive me BONKERS! So we head out to a library class, the mall playground, a park, a friends house, MOPS or anything else I can think of. But I'm with ya... this is the best, and sometimes hardest job in the world!

  4. post--I might have to steal this idea sometime! I totally do those same things...I laughed about the shower thing, b/c I do that all the time. Lee probably thinks I"m so busy during the day I can't shower until he gets home, but sometimes I deliberately wait so that I can take a super long one--it's like a vacation! :-)
