A look back at a great year

I have to say, 2011 was a pretty awesome year.  The best year I've ever had.  And I've had some good ones!  I thought it would be fun to look back and see what happened during the year!

Our precious baby, Kyla Pearl, was born on January 9th (9 days early)!

And on January 11th, we got to bring our baby home!

We started to get settled in at home as a family of three.  Tyler and I continued to figure out what we were doing with the whole parenthood thing.

Kyla celebrated her first Valentine's Day.

She continued to LOVE bath time!

She started sleeping through the night!  Yay!

Kyla had her 2-month checkup and got her first set of shots.  She was such a tough girl!

Kyla had her first visit to the Bennett farm!

She got stronger every day and was already rolling over from her belly to her back!

I made the final decision to not go back to work.  As you know, this was the best decision we ever made!

We celebrated my Grandpa Jack's birthday!

On May 8th, we celebrated my first Mother's Day and Kyla was baptized.

Daddy graduated from UW-Madison with his Masters!

We celebrated Daddy's birthday and his first Father's Day.

We enjoyed taking walks as a family and swinging at the park.

Kyla visited the zoo for the first time.

Tyler and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary.  We treated ourselves to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and it was phenomenal!  And as a side note, Tyler got a gift card for there for Christmas.  Mmm, I can't wait to use it!  :)

Kyla got her first two teeth!

We couldn't believe she was already 6 months old!

She started eating solids!

We went on our first vacation up to Hayward.  We had a great time at the cabin and on the lake!

We had the Wilson's over for a picnic.

We were excited for Badger football!

We celebrated my birthday.

I decided to sign up with Thirty-One.  Another great decision!  :)  Kyla enjoyed playing in my enrollment kit box!
We rooted the Brewers on in the playoffs!

We celebrated with family at my cousin Christine's wedding.

We celebrated Kyla's first Halloween.  Wasn't she the cutest pumpkin you've ever seen?

We celebrated Thanksgiving with our wonderful families.

We decorated the house for Christmas!

We enjoyed our first Christmas as a family.  We are truly blessed!

I can't wait to see what 2012 brings!  It's going to start off with a birthday bash for our sweet girl.  I can't believe she is going to be 1 in 9 days!

Happy New Year everyone!

First Mrs. Mommy video

Remember how I told you I got a Sony Bloggie for Christmas and I'd post a video soon?  Oh, and remember how I was asking about sippy cups because Kyla doesn't know how to use them yet?  Well, I got this one free with my coupons and I decided to let her try it out tonight.  To my surprise, she drank right from the straw like she's been doing it all her life!  She almost drank the whole cup of water!  I think she surprised herself too!

I love how she kept having to look up at Daddy.  I feel much better now about the transition from formula to milk!  She just wasn't getting the hang of tipping the cup back so this one is perfect because she doesn't have to.  I'm just surprised she knew how to suck the straw right away!

Now that I finally figured out (I think) how to upload videos, I will try to post them once in awhile.  Actually it's not the uploading to my blog part, it's the saving them to my computer part.  Anyway, we'll see if this one works first :-)  It worked for me when I played it.  Can you guys let me know if it works?  Haha, not the most technically savvy blogger...

And here are a bunch of pictures of us playing since I know all of you come here to see Kyla, not listen to me ramble...

Playing with her new fridge farm

Trying out our new snow pants.  $4 clearance at Target!

She found some plastic cups in one of the cupboards and they are her new favorite toy!

More time with the fridge farm...we are working on animals and their sounds this week for Tiny Tot School!

On a completely random change of subject...anyone have any good chicken recipes?  We eat chicken so much, but I need a few new recipes.  Tonight we had a new hash brown recipe I created (they are amazing by the way) and green beans.  Kyla went to town on the green beans.  And she loved the potatoes too.  Comment with a good chicken recipe if you have one.  Please and thank you!  :-)

Tomorrow is an exciting day.  The plumber is coming to finish up the bathroom in the basement and our couch is being delivered.  We still have a recliner coming, but that won't be here until mid-January.

The best part of my day was watching Kyla learn how to suck out of her new cup.  And watching her dance to her Mickey Mouse music toy.  She's just too stinking cute!

Lazy days

I have to admit how extremely non-productive I was today.  Some (Tyler) would call it lazy, but I call it non-productive.  Kyla and I stayed in our pj's all morning and didn't get out of the house until 3:00 when we went to the bank and to the village hall.  We had a fun day of playing though.  Her favorite things today were her new puzzles.  She would pick a piece out and I would tell her what it was.  She'd throw that one off to the side and grab another one.  It was so cute!

She didn't take a morning nap, but then took a three hour afternoon nap.  I am not quite used to her not taking the morning nap, but I can definitely get used to the long afternoon one.  You'd think I would have been productive then, right?  Nope.  Not today.  I feel like I still have a holiday hangover.  Oh well.  Tomorrow will be better.  Yep!

Tomorrow we are going to start a new week of Tiny Tot School.  I didn't plan anything last week with all the last minute holiday stuff going on.  Some people apparently were talking crap about me doing Tot School with Kyla.  And that's fine.  I always title it "Tot School" so feel free to ignore those posts if you think I'm stupid.  I don't write this blog to appease you.  So poop on you!  Yes, I said poop on YOU!  And if you read my blog to talk crap to others, get a life!

Ok, sorry about that.  I am usually not a negative person.  Just had to get that out there.  Thanks for understanding!  :-)

On much more exciting news, Thirty-One is having an outlet sale where they are selling tons of products that have been discontinued and were in previous catalogs.  Everything is 50% off or more!  There are so many great products!  Stock up on birthdays, weddings, baby showers, teachers, graduates, Valentine's Day, or just treat yourself to a fun, new bag, tote or purse!  Just go to my website: and click on the Outlet Banner on the left to start shopping!

The best part of my day was listening to Kyla laugh and laugh when I did the "little piggies" with her toes.  She loves it!  It's the little things that make me smile.  I am one lucky lady!

Sorry, no pictures today.  Tomorrow.  I promise!

What was the best part of YOUR day?  Leave me a comment and share!  :-)

Merry Christmas!

Our first Christmas as a family of three has been everything we expected.  We have each other and that's all we need!  We enjoyed spending the day at home today playing with all of Kyla's new toys!  It's crazy to think about a year ago today.  Tyler and I stayed home Christmas day since I was really pregnant and just sat around thinking about what this year would  be like with our little girl.  We were so ready for her to be here.  I can't wait to see what Christmas 2012 will bring!

Last night we went to my mom's to open gifts.  Kyla wasn't too interested in opening any.  She was more interested in eating the paper and crawling all over the house to see what everyone else got.  Emma, Gianna and Kyla all wore their adorable Christmas tree shirts that Shawna made.  Of course I didn't get a great picture.  An (almost) one year old, 3 1/2 year old and 7 year old.  Not exactly great picture posers yet.  But they're still the cutest little red heads I've ever seen!

I take that back...Gianna is a great picture poser!  Emma is too, but she was so busy trying to get Kyla to cooperate!

Daddy opening presents with Kyla

When we got home, we put out the cookies and milk for Santa...

And snuggled a little bit on the couch...

And went to bed and waited for the big guy to come!

He came!  Time to open presents!

Wooden maze from Grandma and Grandpa

She played with this ALL day!

Who needs presents?

Daddy helping open the next one

A sled from Grandma and Grandpa!  She loves it...especially when Daddy pulls her around the house!  Now we just need some snow pants.  Oh yeah, and some snow!

Loves her new puzzles!

Stacking cups!

Wooden train

I got a Sony Bloggie for Christmas (along with a ton of other great stuff)!  We have a video camera, but I've been wanting something like this so I can just pull it out and take a quick video of Kyla and easily upload it.  I tried taking some videos today.  I thought I would get Kyla opening presents, having a blast.  Every time I pushed record, she crawled into the kitchen to get into my drawers.  I will post a cute video soon though!

Tonight we got ready for the Packers vs. Bears game!  It's two against one in our house!  Daddy and his Bears are outnumbered.

We still love you Daddy!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse musical book from her cousins!

She sat on my lap for a good 15 minutes playing with this.

What a great Christmas we had!  And after a long day, it's time for bed!

The best part of my day was waking up and going into Kyla's room with Tyler and saying "Merry Christmas!" and seeing the big smile on her face.  It's like she knew it was a special day.  She was so happy and excited!  I can't wait to continue our family traditions next year and make new ones since Kyla will be even more excited for Christmas!

I hope everyone had a great day!  Thank you to everyone for all the great gifts!  We are truly blessed to have such an amazing family!
